Coming off a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, the New York Knicks have a tough back-to-back game Thursday against the Spurs in San Antonio. The Spurs are -12½ favorites, but I think the first-half odds bring a little better value to this matchup.

Even though the Spurs are probably a nice play tonight in the game odds, the first-half spread of -7½ is a nice play for San Antonio. This being a back-to-back for New York, the Knicks are going to give up a ton of points.

The Knicks are 4-1-1 cashing the over this season on no rest, and it’s mainly because they are giving up nearly 111 points per game in those six. For the first halves of those games, the Knicks are allowing nearly 54 points. And considering how good the Spurs have been at home, I think they will come out and punch the Knicks right in the mouth.

The Spurs have a solid 107 offensive rating at home in the first half this season, but the Knicks have been anything but a good team in the first half on the road. They have a 97.2 offensive rating in the first half of games on the road, and are allowing 108.4 points per 100 possessions in the first half of road games.

Combine all of this, and the Spurs’ first-half odds are a fine value. I expect Kawhi Leonard and company to put an early hurting on the Knicks.
