The last time San Antonio visited Oklahoma City we backed the Thunder to win straight up because of the situation. Russell Westbrook and company were able to pull off the minor upset, but can they do it again today?

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio is coming off of one of the toughest losses they have had this season after dominating Golden State the first quarter of the game only to be outplayed the rest of the way. Despite that tough loss this is still a great San Antonio team and I think they will bounce back in a big way even in a tough venue like Oklahoma City. The Spurs remain one of the most efficient teams offensively in the league but it is on the other side of the ball in which I like them tonight. Currently San Antonio ranks in the top four in every major defensive category highlighted by allowing opponents just 98.3 points per game which ranks them second in the NBA. They have been great at controlling tempo, and although Oklahoma City likes to get up and down I think San Antonio will come in and get enough stops and find a way to pull off a crucial win. This is a much different situation than the last time they visited Oklahoma City as San Antonio is now coming off of rest.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma City is simply finding a way as they pulled out two fourth quarter come-from-behind victories versus Dallas and Orlando on the road. However, those teams are not San Antonio and I believe they will struggle tonight against arguably the league’s best defense. Statistically Oklahoma City has been good from the interior extended ranking first in points in the paint and total rebounds per game. The issue tonight will be twofold in my opinion, first of all they’re one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the NBA, and second they really love to get up and down as they rank third in the league in fast-break points per game. And that is the rub for me, I simply do not believe they will be able to get to the tempo they want in order to be successful against San Antonio tonight. Defensively their statistics rank in the middle the league or worse and I think there is good value in fading them tonight.

NBA Odds

Although San Antonio lost their last time here, oddsmakers have still made them a one-point favorite in this spot and for my NBA pick, I will back them. Look for a big bounce back game from the Spurs as they head towards the playoffs.

Free NBA Pick: Spurs -1.5

Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3067953, "sportsbooksIds":[93,1096,123,274,999993], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
