Last month the Spurs and Memphis played to one of the lower scoring NBA games this season. They meet up today again in Memphis and oddsmakers look for San Antonio to get a bit of revenge. The Grizzlies have been playing good basketball lately but can they keep the momentum going?

San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio is coming off of a rare home loss at the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers so I like for them to bounce back in a big way tonight even on the road. For the last couple of months, San Antonio has really started to pick things up on both ends of the floor and currently rank among the top of the league both offensively and defensively. San Antonio is shooting 39.6% from distance which ranks first in the NBA, as well as shooting 47.3% from the floor overall which ranks them fourth.

As always, though, it is on the other side of the ball where they have their foundation. San Antonio ranks in the top three in most defensive categories highlighted by ranking second and third in opponent effective field-goal percentage and opponent shooting efficiency. Memphis is always really tough at home but with San Antonio coming off a loss I have a hard time believing they are going to lose two games in a row despite the fact that Memphis is on a small winning streak. Look for San Antonio to really step things up on the defensive end tonight and knock down enough shots to pull away and cover the number.

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis is on a three-game winning streak and currently, sits at 39-30 in the league as they look to solidify a playoff spot. Although they played some pretty good basketball this past week it seems unlikely that they will be able to beat San Antonio for the second time this season. As usual, Memphis has some decent defensive numbers but on the other side of the ball, they are one of the worst in the NBA.

Memphis is just shooting 47.2% on their two-point shots and 43.5% overall, both of which rank them last in the NBA. They also rank 26th and 28th in shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. I’m sure they’ll be well fired up to take on San Antonio and they do have a bit of momentum, but I don’t like how they matchup with the Spurs for the most part. With San Antonio coming in off a loss as well as looking for a bit of revenge I simply don’t think Memphis has enough to stay within the number tonight.

San Antonio Spurs vs Memphis Grizzlies

San Antonio is a -3.5 favorite in this spot and for my NBA pick, I will take them minus the number. Although Memphis has played some good basketball this past week don’t look for them to upset San Antonio once again.
