Heat player Derrick Williams in action

The Heat will be without Goran Dragic in this one against the San Antonio Spurs and that is bad news for an offense that is already struggling to put up points. With both teams playing slow and methodical on offense and playing great defense to start the season, both might end up in the low 90s, making a great NBA Odds play on the under.

Miami Heat vs San Antonio Spurs

If you liked slow-paced basketball with a lot of defense, this may be the game for you. After cashing a couple of totals on the over for Sunday, I am going to opposite direction with the Spurs and Heat coming into Monday night.

Goran Dragic has already been ruled out of this game, which basically kills any chance the Heat had of getting above 90 points in this one. Dragic accounts for a ton of their offense and when he is off the court, the Miami’s offense does not run as well.

Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson have done a nice job of filling in for Dragic, but they are more scorers than they are distributors. Without Dragic, Hassan Whiteside’s offensive upside goes out the window, but his defense should still be very strong.

The Heat have been one of the best teams at protecting the rim so far this season and both of these teams have been stout on defense. They both rank inside the top 10 in defensive rating, while they both play at paces of 94.3 possessions per 48 minutes or slower.

With Miami’s offensive rating falling a full three points without Dragic on the court and with their pace slightly lower as well, take the under on this one for your NBA picks.
