With both teams coming off a back to back, I'm going to back the Charlotte Hornets minus the points versus the Brooklyn Nets. Check inside for an NBA odds analysis and free NBA picks.

NBA odds
Odds makers have come out making Charlotte a -6.5 favorite but I think they win this game by double digits. For my NBA pick of the day, I'm going to back them in this spot to play with a little motivation tonight. At some sportsbooks, the line is -7 and others -6.5, I will take the Hornets at -6.5 at -110 at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2882627, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Brooklyn Nets
Brooklyn comes in averaging 94.7 points per game, shooting 43.5% from the field, and 26.5% from beyond the arc. I am a fan of Lionel Hollins, but the Nets are not particularly deep this year and honestly don't have a ton of talent. Still, they have played exceptionally well in their last two games taking Golden State to over time and then beating Atlanta last night. Statistically, they haven't been very good on either end of the floor, and I expect them to be a little weary after an emotional win against Atlanta last night.

Defensively, Brooklyn is allowing 103.6 points per game, 45.8% shooting from the field, and 37.1% from beyond the arc. For a Hollins coached team, these numbers are quite surprising, but it more demonstrates the lack of players they have. They have been pretty decent not allowing extra chances ranking eighth in opponents total rebounds per game, but after that all their defensive statistics rank in the bottom part of the league.

Charlotte Hornets
Charlotte comes in averaging 101.4 points per game, shooting 44.2% from the field, and 35.9% from beyond the arc. Last night, Kemba Walker was outstanding scoring 31 points, but they just couldn't seem to continue any consistency versus New York. Tonight, I expect them to be a lot more efficient against a poor defensive team in Brooklyn and score a lot more consistently.

Defensively, Charlotte is allowing 99.2 points per game, 45.5% shooting from the field, and 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. As I wrote yesterday, they're kind of a middle tiered ranked defensive unit, but they have been really good in the paint, allowing just 38.4 points per game, which ranks fourth in the NBA. That should be a really important issue in this game because Brooklyn is not a good three-point shooting team, or perimeter shooting team for that matter. If Charlotte can defend the interior as well as they have been this season it could be a long night for Brooklyn.

I will go ahead and lay the points with Charlotte in this matchup. With both teams playing last night, I think there is good value on the NBA odds for the statistically better team in the Hornets. For one of your NBA picks, I recommend backing them in this spot.

Free NBA Pick: Charlotte Hornets -6.5 at BetOnline
