Thursday's NBA betting menu is very light, with only two games both broadcasted by TNT this evening. We look at both matchups and dish out the best pick for each game.

Warriors vs Spurs

The 5-3 Warriors will take on the 4-3 Spurs in the first of three meetings between conference finals participants from just a year ago. The Warriors are currently experiencing what can best be described as a championship hangover to start their season with sporadic play. The up and down nature of the Warriors probably has a lot more to do with the fact that this group is coming off of their third straight finals appearance, which means that they were playing basketball through June, and then had the quick turnaround with the season starting earlier than normal.

Golden State will be fine once the players get their legs underneath of them.

The Spurs started out the season hot by winning their first four games of the season but subsequently dropped their next three games. The Spurs will be fine once Kawhi Leonard is finally able to return to action.

As for tonight’s game, the Warriors will probably come in highly motivated to get back on the winning track and make sure that they position themselves to have home-court advantage in April.

 Lakers vs Trail Blazers

Portland is coming off of a crushing overtime loss to the Utah Jazz last night, and had to board a plane to travel back home to play the Lakers. The Blazers have looked like a team that is ready to pick up with where they left off at the end of last season when a healthy Jusuf Nurkic completely changed that team. Nurkic allows the Blazers to run more pick-and-roll action with their two dynamic guards, and the fact that Nurkic is a proficient passer allows for them to master dribble handoffs between McCollum and Lillard. They are currently 7 point favorites on the NBA odds board.

The Lakers are showing some of the promise that the NBA world expected before the season started and it all starts with the play of Lonzo Ball. The Lakers rookie point guard has still not found his shooting stroke, but has shown the flashes of the brilliant passer that made him so highly touted coming out of UCLA. Ball is averaging 10 points 7 assists and and 7 rebounds per game, and has a commanding control over the offense.

The other bright spot for the Lakers this season has been the surprise play of Julius Randle off of the Lakers bench. Randle lost his starting job to Larry Nance and instead of pouting, he has used that as motivation to become a better basketball player. Coming off the bench suits Randle because he is able to showcase his playmaking skills and create offense for himself and others. Randle should be able to have his way against the Trail Blazers young frontcourt, consisting of Caleb Swannigan and Zach Collins.
