The Milwaukee Bucks have been struggling tremendously over the last couple weeks, and things are not going to get easier for them as they travel to Utah on Wednesday. The Jazz are the best defensive team in the NBA and a solid favorite in this matchup.

Milwaukee Bucks

Milwaukee has lost eight of its past nine games. The Bucks have not been very sharp at all, but when we start to break down their statistics this is a good team that seems to simply be in a slump. Milwaukee is shooting 47.1% from the floor, which ranks it fourth in the NBA, and the Bucks are also hitting a solid 36.7% from distance, which ranks them eighth. They also rank first in the NBA in points in the paint at 50.7 per contest.

On the other side the ball they have kind of lost their way after starting the season doing a nice job defensively. Tonight, although they are the underdogs, I think the Bucks have a good shot to stay within the number against a Utah team that doesn’t push pace so much. Milwaukee is allowing opponents to shoot just 45% from the floor, which ranks 11th in the NBA. This is a talented team that I believe matches up with Utah well, and although I have a hard time believing they can win in Salt Lake City, I do believe they keep this game relatively close on NBA picks.

Utah Jazz

Utah ranks first in the NBA in allowing opponents just 95.5 points per game -- and across the board defensively have been extremely good this season. The Jazz rank second in the NBA in opponent overall shooting from the floor, opponent shooting efficiency and opponent field goals made per game. They also rank first in opponent effective field-goal percentage and opponent three-pointers made per game.

On the other side of the ball, the Jazz don’t put up a lot of points but they have been really efficient shooting 46.2% from the floor overall and 36.2% from distance, ranking them 10th and 12th the NBA, respectively. The biggest issue for me Wednesday is the fact that Utah only averages 78 field-goal attempts per game while making 36 of those -- both of which rank them dead last in the league. Milwaukee can be a tricky matchup for some teams because the Bucks are long and athletic, so expect for Utah to most likely win this game but not cover on NBA odds.
