This NBA handicapper explains that after the 1st 10 games of NBA action, familiar faces are in familiar places. In the East, the Charlotte Hornests; in the West, the Mavericks.

Dallas Mavericks (-3) vs. Charlotte Hornets 7:05 ET
After the 1st 10 games of NBA action, familiar faces are in familiar places.  In the Eastern Conference, this includes Charlotte who stands 4-6 SU, just on the outside looking in of qualifying for the playoffs.  In the Western Conference, Dallas stands 7-3 SU, tied with Portland for 4th place in the conference standings.

Charlotte returns from a road trip, where they are 1-5 SU away.  That trip ended with a 112-87 loss at the hands of Golden State.  The Hornets have allowed 105 PPG in their last 5 contests.   On Saturday night, they allowed the Warriors to pour in 112 points on 52% shooting.  Key to Charlotte’s success has been a 3-1 SU conference record. Playing teams from the West, such as these Dallas Mavericks, finds them to be 1-5 SU. The Hornets have an assortment of players battling through injury.  MKG (foot, head) and Neal (head) will certainly miss this game.  But Kemba Walker (back), Lance Stevenson (groin), and M. Williams (knee) have all been compromised by their respective maladies.

Our NBA handicappers share Props picks for tonight's match, as well.

Dallas enters as one of the hottest teams in the league on a 3-0 SU ATS run, which is probably why the NBA odds are favoring them tonight.  In those victories, they have outscored foes 360-285 for an average of 120-95.  This was all against competition against the likes of Sacramento, Philly and Minnesota as they will face tonight.  In the 131-117 Saturday night win vs. Minnesota, they had 4 players dish out 5 or more assists.  Nowitizki shot a rock-solid 56%.  This is a veteran team, anchored in the middle by the return of Chandler that has plenty of scoring pop at all other positions.

An argument can be made for the home/road dichotomy of each team which would favor the Hornets in this contest.  Of greater importance is the way in which Charlotte has struggled against the faster paced teams in the West.  Each of these teams is allowing 100 PPG, after 10 games.  But, it is on the offensive end where Dallas outscores Charlotte by a count of 110-96, where the Mavs will have a major edge tonight.  At a short price on the road, I favor a veteran Dallas team who is in great offensive current form against a Charlotte team who is a bit battered and bruised and does not figure to keep pace with the up-tempo style of tonight’s visitor.  The result is a comfortable Dallas Mavericks’ double digit victory against the outmanned Hornets.
