With the NBA schedule back to normal after just two games yesterday, let's take a look at some of the betting totals tonight and take advantage of the ones that we think that we can profit from with our picks.

Phoenix Suns (21-16) VS. Minnesota Timberwolves (5-28) -Total 214.5

No Rest Is Best?
We have a Phoenix Suns team, who were one of the 4 teams playing last night, therefore they get no rest after their 102-96 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, but they get a bit of a break tonight as they face a short-handed team in the Minnesota Timberwolves, who rank last in defense in the NBA at 108.5.

Naturally, the odds makers see the T-Wolves defense and the Suns offense, and are going to create one of the highest betting totals of the night.

As for Phoenix's defense, they're not much better, allowing 104.5 points, but they have a great offense and that's why the Suns are a winning ball club, so keep this in mind when looking over the NBA odds

Phoenix had a very low scoring game, for their standards, last night as the combination of Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic accounted for just 26 points. That said, Markieff Morris had a huge 26 point, 10 rebound game against Milwaukee and usually when one or two of Phoenix's "Big 3" have a poor game, there's always someone to pick up the slack like Morris did last night and Suns also got a solid 18 point contribution from Isaiah Thomas off of the bench. While head coach, Jeff Hornaeck, doesn't provide a ton of playing time for "IT2", Thomas never hesitates to look for his shot and we can expect more of the same from the Thomas tonight as Minnesota doesn't know the meaning of the word defense.

A Bright Future
Minnesota might not be a winning basketball team, but they'll get another great draft pick and the combination of Shabazz Muhammad and Andrew Wiggins have really stepped up their games of late. Wiggins has had 4 consecutive games of 20 points or more and 6 out of his last 7 games have been 20 or more. It appears that the Cleveland Cavaliers made a huge mistake in trading Wiggins to the Timberwolves and where the future is concerned, it's an outright steal. I don't think that Kevin Love wants to stay with the Cavs due to the fact that he likes to be the go to guy and he also wants to play for a California-based team.

Shabazz Muhammad is another player having a very surprising season. He was a bench player for Minnesota at the beginning of the season, but he's been so good, the decision was easy to install him into the starting lineup. I expect a very high scoring game. As good as Minnesota's young talent is, the team as a whole, is simply awful defensively and the Suns can shoot the lights out and will also score a ton of fast break points.

NBA Pick- Phoenix/Minnesota Over 214.5 at 5Dimes

Oklahoma City Thunder (17-18) vs. Sacramento Kings (14-20)- Total -211.5
I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again. We can't use Oklahoma City statistics due to the injuries that they've had to endure all season long. We know one thing and that is that the Thunder have a healthy Russell Westrbook and Kevin Durant and this can lead to a high scoring affair against a Kings team which allows 104.4 points per game.

Collison and Westbrook = Pace Pushers

There should be no problem in taking the over here as both teams will have countless offensive opportunities with point guards Russell Westbrook and Darren Collison running each respective team. Westbrook is the best point guard in the league and one of the quickest guards in the game. He has a complete offensive game and the Sacramento defense will be helpless and forced to foul. Although Collison isn't as good a player as Westbrook, his 16.4 points and 5.9 assists speaks for itself. He's very quick to force the issue and when a team has options such as Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins, they can't go wrong.

While Serge Ibaka does provide a huge defensive presence, one player won't be able to stop the Kings big guns and Ibaka has also improved his offensive game when Westbrook and Durant were both out with injuries.I don't need to look at trends here. Everything points to a high scoring game, take the total as your NBA pick.
