We’ll be examining Sunday’s NBA contest between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers. Read our insightful perspective on this contest in which we’ve seen a major line adjustment.

Not Ready for Prime Time Game
The Los Angeles Lakers will host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday at 6:35 PM ET. According to the NBA betting odds at Bookmaker, Oklahoma City is 3.5 point road favorite, and the posted total is 197.5. This will be the second meeting of the season between these teams, and the Thunder came away with a 104-103 win at the Staples Center in Los Angles during the first encounter. This game was originally scheduled to be a 3:35 PM ET start, and was supposed to be an ABC national telecast. Due to star players (Kobe Bryant, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant) being out with injuries on both sides, the network executives opted for the Cleveland and Houston game instead.

Tough Spot for the Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without the services of their two best players for today’s road contest in Los Angeles. Kevin Durant will miss his sixth game in a row due to a foot injury, and Russell Westbrook also won’t play. In all due respect to Durant, the loss of Russell Westbrook came at an unfortunate time for the all-star point guard. Westbrook took a knee to the facial area in the closing seconds of the Thunder’s 115-112 loss at Portland on Friday. The injury required surgery that was performed on Saturday, and his status will be evaluated once again next week. Westbrook had recorded a triple double in each of the last three-games for the Thunder, and that’s a feat which is an incredible accomplishment. The Thunder will also be playing their third road game in the last four days, and have gone an unimpressive 3-6 during the last nine away contests.

Break Up the Lakers
Don’t look now but the Los Angeles Lakers have won three games in a row. However, it must be noted, prior to this current win streak they lost seven in a row, and sixteen of seventeen games. The Lakers have also awoken offensively by scoring 100-points or more in each of their previous four games. Prior to this current scoring run, they hadn’t reached the 100-point plateau in nine of eleven games.

Final Analysis
My most pertinent advice regarding your NBA picks for Sunday is too tread lightly when making a wager on this contest. There are numerous miscellaneous factors to account for not too mention a major line adjustment. Oklahoma City has gone a dismal 4-10 this season when playing without Russell Westbrook in the lineup. The lack of rest, playing shorthanded, and facing an opponent (Lakers) today that’s established some momentum seems like a tall order for the road team.
