Our NBA consultant provides us with his two top totals picks for Saturday’s card. Join us to read this insightful betting preview that highlights games between Knicks/Wizards & Nets/Grizzlies.

Knicks vs. Wizards 7:05 PM ET
New York has gone over the total in each of their first two games. Those two contests averaged a combined 216.0 points scored per game. The Knicks have been able to establish a brisk pace in their opening two contests, averaging a sizable 93 field goal attempts per outing. They’ve also done a nice job of overcompensating for some poor shooting by getting to the free throw line often. New York is averaging 28 free throw attempts per game.

Washington opened the season with two road games, and will be playing in their home opener tonight. They won each of those contests by scores of 88-87 against Orlando, and 118-113 last night versus Milwaukee. The Wizards are 10-1 over the total in home games the past two seasons following two straight on the road. Washington is shooting a stellar 38.8% from beyond the three point line so far, and made a total of 18 long distance shots.

Any team (Washington) coming off back to back road wins that each came by 5 points or less, and they’re playing in the first half of the season, resulted in that team going 45-13 (77.6%) over the total since 1996.

I’ll be leaning toward this game going over the number for one of my NBA picks on Saturday.

Nets vs. Grizzlies 8:05 PM ET
Brooklyn has been horrible offensively in their first two games. The Nets are averaging 87.5 points per game, shooting a terrible 41.2% from the floor, converted just 20% of their three point attempts, and has made only 69.8% of their free throw tries. On a positive note, the Nets have allowed opponents a mere 16 free throw attempts per game.

Memphis has been uncharacteristically inept on the defensive end of the floor in their first two games. This was one of the best defensive teams in the NBA a season ago, and especially so when at home. Similar to tonight’s opponent, the Grizzlies have struggled offensively thus far. They’re averaging just 94.0 points per game, shooting 42.7% from the field, and converted on only 28.1% of their three point attempts.
