The ABC primetime matchup this Saturday is another great one as the Rockets visit the Warriors for perhaps the last-ever time in Oakland.

Not sure it would be much solace for that, but Houston can clinch the 2018-19 season series with a victory on national TV Saturday night in Oakland. Unless these teams meet in the postseason again, it will be the Rockets’ final game in that city with the Warriors moving across the bay to a new arena in San Francisco next season. Because pro teams all leave Oakland, apparently.

While these teams play one last time March 13 in Houston, the Rockets would clinch the season series thanks to a 2-0 lead. They blew out the visiting Warriors 107-86 on Nov. 15 when the Dubs were without Steph Curry and hit just 4-for-18 from deep.

Maybe the most entertaining game of this season was Jan. 3 in Oakland, which Houston won 135-134 in overtime on a very tough 3-pointer by James Harden with 2.7 seconds left. He led his team back from a 20-point deficit and was magnificent with 44 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds. Clint Capela had 29 points and 21 rebounds, while Chris Paul was out injured. Not counting DeMarcus Cousins, the Warriors were full strength. Incredibly rare for the team to lose when Curry (35 points), Kevin Durant (26) and Klay Thompson (26) all score at least 20 points.

Houston has won four of the past five regular-season meetings after losing 11 of the previous 12. The Rockets haven’t won three straight in Oakland since 2013.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "<iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/mleZQR9lHMs\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen></iframe>"}[/]

Bet Rockets Or Warriors ATS?

I recommended backing Houston as a short favorite at the Lakers on Thursday night, in part because its All-Star-caliber center Capela was returning from thumb surgery. In a game where Harden had 30 points, six assists and five rebounds, Capela had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Chris Paul 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists – well, you’d think Houston would have won and covered.

Alas, the Rockets blew a 19-point third-quarter lead and lost 111-106. It was their sixth time this season losing a game they led by at least 15. I don’t want to say the refs wanted LeBron and the Lakers to win, but Houston was called for 28 fouls and both Harden and Paul fouled out; it was the first time this season any NBA starting backcourt fouled out. I watched that game. Some calls were rather ridiculous. Harden did extend his streak of 30-point games to 32 in a row, now solo second all-time.

Golden State edged the visiting Kings 125-123 on Thursday, winning the season series 4-0 despite outscoring the rising Kings by just 12 combined points. Curry hit 10 3-pointers to finish with 36 points. It was his 10th game this year with at least 10 made 3-pointers, the most in a season in NBA history. All-Star Game MVP Durant had 28 points, nine rebounds and tied his career-high with seven blocks.

The Warriors are now 10-0 when starting Curry, Thompson, Durant, Green and Cousins. They lost their final game before the break in Portland, but Cousins got the night off. The Dubs were without key reserve Shaun Livingston on Thursday as he left the team to be with his wife for the birth of their child. Seems likely he would return by Saturday.

Favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.

Rockets are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games overall.

Rockets are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games.

NBA players don’t get “up” for every game on the schedule, but I assure you the Warriors will here simply because they lost the first two games and this is their last home shot at the Rockets. Golden State has failed to cover its past five games overall and is just 11-18-1 ATS at home, but back the Warriors. Houston is 10-19 ATS on the road. Also believe a good chance Harden’s streak ends with Thompson an excellent defender.
