The Thunder host the Rockets in a must-win Game 3 at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Oklahoma City is favored by 3 points on the NBA odds board and the total has been set at 224.5.
The Rockets erased a 15-point deficit to win Game 2, 115-111. After a poor showing in their 118-87 Game 1 loss, the Thunder played much better but their strong start wasn't enough as they fell apart in the 4th quarter.
Russell Westbrook recorded an impressive triple-double with 51 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals but he was just 4 of 18 in the fourth quarter, including a poor 1 of 7 from 3-point range. Westbrook scored 15 points in the 4th but he took many poor, contested shots and didn't get much help from the rest of his teammates when the game was on the line.
James Harden finished with 35 points, eight assists and four rebounds for the Rockets. Harden didn't shoot well, going just 7 of 17 overall and he turned the ball over seven times but he was able to find a way to produce without overshooting.
Harden got a lot of help and once again balanced scoring made the difference for the Rockets. Eric Gordon (22 points) and Lou Williams (21 points) combined for 43 points off the bench and Patrick Beverley added 15 points.
The total has gone under in five of Oklahoma City's last six games, in three of Houston's last six games and in 50 of 94 games in this series. The 'Under' is 25-24 in 49 games played in Houston and 6-7 in the last 13 games between these two teams.
In Game 2 the Thunder played with a purpose for three quarters and they managed to counter the Rockets' offensive weapons to give themselves a chance to win but their forgetable 4th quarter performance cost them.
Can the Thunder make the corrections they need in time to get back in this series? Can they play aggressively for a full game? Oklahoma City is favored by 3 points on the NBA odds board and the total is at 224.5.
Westbrook scored 51 points and the 'Under' almost hit in Game 2. He ran out of gas in the 4th quarter and we can't expect him to score 51 points in this game and I don't see anyone else stepping up for OKC so I'm taking 'Under' 224.5 with my NBA picks.
