Both teams were in action yesterday, but it'll be the Rockets that have the advantage of being at home. Let's examine the NBA odds that are on offer and come up with a pick.

Odds Overview
We find the Rockets currently favored by 4.5 points on the NBA odds board, as they look to bounce back after losing to the Grizzlies last night. There's a relatively high total of 204.5 that's available for action as of now, and it's no surprise to see the higher number when you consider Houston loves to get involved in shootouts. Plus, the Rockets' defense has been awful, as usual.

Houston Rockets
It's been a really bad couple of weeks for the Rockets, as they just lost in Memphis last night and have now gone 1-5 in their last six games overall. They've dropped to 5-8 overall on the season, a far cry from the team that found so much success last year.

Things were going so poorly that Houston made the seemingly hasty decision to fire Kevin McHale. We're not entirely convinced that was the right move considering what this team was able to accomplish last season, as well as the fact injuries have plagued the Rockets. Once they have everyone back and at full strength, then it would have been fair to judge the results appropriately.

But alas, here we are, and Houston will be coached by J.B Bickerstaff for now, but he wasn't able to guide the Rockets last night. They had no answer for Marc Gasol inside, as the Spaniard had a big triple double and was instrumental on both ends of the floor. Dwight Howard played last night, which means he'll be sitting out tonight's game against the Knicks; look for Clint Capela to pick up another start, or for Houston to go small with Marcus Thornton again.

New York Knicks
The Knicks are really playing well, far above the level of what many thought they'd see. New York comes in having won three straight games, and the team has gone a rock solid 5-2 over its last seven contests. The Knicks have picked up some impressive wins along the way, topping Toronto and Oklahoma City among others, so they should be high on confidence for this matchup with New York.

Last night the Knicks did just enough to beat the Thunder on the road. They benefited from the absence of Kevin Durant, but it's still never to go into Oklahoma City and win against Russell Westbrook and company; Melo had a big game and the role players really stepped up to lead New York to the W.

Overall this season we find the Knicks at 7-6, which is good for third in the Atlantic, behind only Boston and Toronto, and it looks like they're not going to flame out this time around; they've got a solid group that's playing well.

NBA Pick
This sets up as a favorable spot for the Rockets, who should find the sledding much easier at home versus New York as opposed to being in Memphis yesterday evening.

So, even though Houston has lost five of six and is looking for answers after the firing of their coach, and even though the Knicks have been more competitive this season, we see the home team as the one most likely to cover the spread in this situation.

We know the Rockets have the talent in place to be one of the premier teams in not only the conference but the entire NBA, and it's only going to be a matter of time before they figure it out and get back to their winning ways. Tonight is a great chance for them to do just that at home versus Melo and his New York pals. Make the Rockets your NBA pick.
