Houston Rockets vs. Sacramento Kings
Sunday, August 09, 2020 – 08:00 PM EDT at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Florida
The restart has been a promising but rough set of games for the Sacramento Kings. Injuries to Marvin Bagley and Richaun Holmes have limited their frontcourt production significantly, and there's a ton of pressure on their talented backcourt to overcome suspect interior defense. They've won just once since the restart began.
Their frenetic offense hasn't shot nearly as well as hoped but they're a competent bunch when the limit turnovers. They've hit the over in seven of nine games due to the mixture of offensive explosions from Bogdan Bogdanovic, De'Aaron Fox, and Buddy Hield. But the defense must be better to win consistently against playoff teams.
Their matchup with Houston looks more promising thanks to injuries on the other side. This may not be the offensive explosion we've seen across the league since the firepower for Houston is severely limited.
The injuries this team has sustained are heavy blows. They'll still likely win this game because the Kings' defense has allowed no less than 114 in their return, and James Harden is going to carve up their weak interior defense. But the Rockets have eclipsed 120 once since the return, and are more comfortably closer to 115 in wins.
Now they're without Russell Westbrook on Sunday, adding to Eric Gordon's absence. They've hit the under in four of five games, so we're going to continue that play here since 234 is a large number. However it should be a closer game than it would've been with Westbrook, and the six-point spread is an attractive one for us. We'll parlay that with the under and cash in nicely this evening.
