The Houston Rockets (34-34) visit Philips Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks (40-29). The Hawks are favored by 7 points on the NBA odds board and the total is set at 213.

Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are playing better basketball as of late, winning five of their last seven games to remain seventh in the Western Conference standings, a half a game behind the sixth-place Portland Trail Blazers. The Rockets are coming off a 116-111 win against the Timberwolves last night behind 29 points and 14 assists from James Harden.

The Rockets average 106.3 points per game (fourth in the league) and shoot 44.9 percent from the floor and 34.5 percent from three-point range and they pull down 42.8 rebounds per game. Houston allows 106.9 points per game (27th in the league) and their opponents shoot 46.3 percent overall and 36.5 percent from beyond the arc and grab 44.7 rebounds per game.

James Harden leads the team with 28.6 points and 7.2 assists, Dwight Howard averages 14.6 points and team-bests with 12.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks and Trevor Ariza adds 12.5 points and a team-best 2.1 steals.

Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are on a roll, winning four games in a row and seven of their last eight to move to third place in the Eastern Conference standings, a half a game over the Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets. The Hawks crushed the Nuggets 116-98 last Thursday. Tim Hardaway Jr. finished with a season-high 21 points and Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague scored 16 points each.

The Hawks average 102.5 points per game on 45.9 percent shooting overall (ninth in the league) and 35.0 percent shooting from three-point range and they pull down 41.9 rebounds per game. Defensively, Atlanta allows 98.6 points per game (6th in the NBA) and their opponents shoot 43.3 percent from the floor (second in the league) and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and grab 46.1 rebounds per game.

Paul Millsap leads the Hawks with 17.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals, Al Horford averages 15.4 points and a team-best 1.6 blocks and Jeff Teague adds 15.1 points and a team-best 5.9 assists.

Betting Trends
The Rockets are 30-38 ATS, 13-14 ATS as an underdog, 4-9 ATS on Saturday games and 9-16 ATS in non-conference games. The Hawks are 28-23 ATS as a favorite, 13-7 ATS in the second half of the season, 14-8 ATS after a win by 10 points or more and 7-2 ATS in March games.

Final Analysis
The Hawks are a 7-point favorite on the NBA odds board and the total has been set at 213. This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season. The Hawks beat the Rockets 121-115 in Houston on December 29 behind 30 points and 14 rebounds from Al Horford. Dwight Howard led the Rockets with 30 points and 16 rebounds and James Harden added 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. The Hawks are on fire, and they're 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games, as they have become more versatile on both ends of the floor thanks to the play of Tim Hardaway Jr. I'm taking the Hawks -7 with one of my NBA picks.
