The Rockets rebounded from an upset loss at home only to throttle the Jazz on their home court in Game 3. Let’s analyze this pivotal Game 4 matchup and check out the NBA odds board for Sunday’s Western Conference showdown.

However, the Jazz were locked and loaded to deliver a little payback and sure enough, in their first win and ATS cover all season against Houston, they delivered a 116-108 win as 10 ½ point road underdogs. In Game 3 on Friday night, with the series knotted at one apiece, it didn’t take long for Houston to shake off the funk from their stunning loss and get back to business with a dominating 113-92 win as 4 ½ point road chalk. The Rockets learned from their previous mistake and came out firing in the early going, cruising to a 30-point lead at the half which essentially sealed the deal. There would be no upset on this evening and the cover was just a matter of time, much to the delight of all of those backing the Rockets in their NBA picks.

The Game 3 victory for Houston was a bit different than most in that James Harden was not asked to don his Superman’s cape and carry the load. Eric Gordon finally got on track with 25 points and hit 8 of 13 from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Gordon had struggled mightily heading into Friday night, shooting just 31.4 percent from the field and averaging 12.9 points per game over the seven previous seven postseason contests. The Rockets outplayed the Jazz in all aspects of the game with eight steals, seven blocks, and eight turnovers versus three, four, and 16 respectively for Utah.

It is now desperation time for Utah as they are fully aware that going down 3-1 with the series headed back to Houston would put them in an untenable position. However, there are several factors working against the Jazz in this one. First off, Utah’s starting power forward Derrick Favors may not be available for Game 4 with an ankle sprain suffered on Friday night. Even if Favors does go, will he really be at full throttle against arguably the best team in the league? Now it should be noted that Favors has not been much of a factor in the series but his absence will put more strain on Utah’s rather limited bench, particularly with the absence of Ricky Rubio.

I don’t see much hope for the Jazz in this one. Donovan Mitchell was neutralized by a stout Houston defense and limited the rookie sensation to just 10 points and a dismal 25 percent from the field. As we take a look at the NBA odds board we see that the 5 ½‘s being dealt on the Rockets are morphing into 6’s as the money on Houston forces the oddsmakers to adjust. Rockets roll on Sunday.
