LA Clippers vs. Memphis Grizzlies (-5) 8:05 ET
The LA Clippers visit the Memphis Grizzlies for an 8:05 ET tipoff at the FedEx Forum. The under-achieving Clippers currently hold down the No. 6 seed in the West with a 37-21 SU mark. This includes a mediocre road record of 14-13. The sterling play of Memphis has lifted them to the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference playoff queue. These teams met Mondaynight with the Grizzlies winning 90-87 in Los Angeles.  As a result of that win, Memphis has won 8 of the previous 9 meetings with the Clippers. Let’s take a look at why we favor Memphis to get yet another victory against the LA Clippers.

The Clippers have been struggling in the 7 games since All-Star, Blake Griffin, underwent surgery to remove a staph infection. LAC is just 4-3 SU in Griffin’s absence. This matchup is clearly a battle of pace. The Clippers love to push the tempo, while Memphis prefers to control the speed of the game. With the 8-1 SU series record favoring the Grizz, it is clear that the Clippers are in trouble once again tonight. This has not been the preferred role for LAC this season, as they are just 4-10 ATS on the road as underdog to -3.

Let These Talented Underdogs Help You Increase Your Profit

Memphis has a huge interior edge without Griffin in the lineup for the Clippers.  Gasol and Randolph can exert their will in the painted area on both sides of the court.  The normal edge that the Clippers have with PG Paul running the show is virtually negated by the excellent point guard play of Grizzlies lead guard, Conley. Memphis has been further buoyed by the addition of wing-man, Jeff Green from Boston. As an indication of the Memphis power on the interior, consider that they score a league leading 47 PPG in the paint (while holding the opposition to just 39 PPG).  While slowing the tempo, Memphis hangs its hat on its defensive excellence. The Grizz are No. 1 in the NBA, allowing just 95.6 PPG.  The Grizz also have shown excellence at the Fed Ex Forum, where they are 23-5 SU at home. Included in that is a recent 11-1 SU, 9-3 ATS burst, in which they have allowed just 88 PPG. The Grizz have been at their best at this price point in NBA action on this court, posting a record of 11-4 ATS to -6.

Without Griffin in the lineup for LAC, we must continue to ride the Memphis’ series dominance with our NBA picks, backed by the No. 1 defense in the league, their strong play on the interior and their record on their home court.
