We’ll be examining the NBA contest tonight between Denver and Oklahoma City in this betting preview article. Be sure to read our insightful piece covering many aspects regarding this contest, and it’s finalized with an ATS selection.
The Oklahoma City Thunder Red-Hot Thunder versus Ice Cold Nuggets
The Oklahoma City Thunder will play host to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday at 7:05 PM ET. According to the NBA betting odds. at BetOnline, Oklahoma City is a 10.5 point favorite, and the posted total is 212.0.
A Team in Transition
Denver engaged in a rummage sale for lack of a better phrase at the NBA trading deadline. Gone are Aaron Affalo (14.5 ppg), Javale McGee (5.0 ppg), and Alonzo Gee (4.9 ppg) who were all traded away. The Nuggets enter tonight having lost fourteen of their last sixteen games, and if it’s not obvious to you already, Denver is officially in a rebuilding mode. Ironically, the only two wins that Denver has captured in those last sixteen games have both come on the road where they’ve gone a poor 8-20 this season. Denver enters tonight having seen only nine of their twenty-eight (32.1%) road games go over the total this season, despite ranking 26th in scoring defense.
Thunder making Huge Noise
After getting off to a disappointing start to the season, due in large part to key injuries, the Oklahoma City Thunder once again resembles the team which attained elite NBA status during the past few seasons. Oklahoma City enters tonight riding a five game winning streak, and also has been victorious in seven of their previous eight. The Thunder have scored 102-points or more in each of their previous eight games, after failing to crack the century mark on five consecutive occasions prior to this recent offensive outburst. One part of the Thunder’s game which has been very consistent this season is their play on the defensive end of the floor. Oklahoma City is 2nd in field goal percentage defense holding opponents to 42.8% shooting from the floor.
There’s a lot of uncertainty regarding this contest tonight which makes for a very tough call. Kevin Durant (25.4 ppg) missed last night’s game at Charlotte while nursing a sore foot, and is listed as questionable for tonight. In addition, how will the Denver Nuggets respond to the recent vast overhaul of their roster? Here’s what we do know. This will be the Thunder’s third game in the last four days. On the other hand, Denver will be playing only their second game in the last twelve days due to the all-star break. The officiating crew for this contest will be David Guthrie, Curtis Blair, and Zach Zarba. Home teams have combined to go a dismal 45-75 (37.5%) ATS in games officiated by tonight’s assigned trio. I’m going to have the ever so slightest of leans toward the road underdog in this contest for one of my NBA picks on Sunday.
