Top Expert Team Prop Picks

Celtics race to 30 points (+155) – Browne

Both the Celtics and Toronto Raptors played their first game of the season at a pace of just under 104 points, which I expect to be the bare minimum tonight. I don't like how Toronto matches up with this Boston team. The Raptors are committed to playing small ball and the Celtics' small-ball lineup has way more upside than Toronto's. I see the Celtics beating the Raps at their own game and getting to 30 in the first quarter.

Boston Celtics Over 112.5 points (-110) - Kacsmar

The Celtics scored 134 points in their double-overtime loss against the Knicks on Wednesday, but they put up 116 points in regulation despite Jayson Tatum producing a horrible shooting night. Tatum was 7-of-30 shooting from the field, including 2-for-15 from three. I like him to shoot better against a Toronto team that went 0-3 against Boston last year and allowed at least 120 points in each game. The Raptors just posted a sluggish 98-83 loss against Washington, but look for more points in this one.

Magic Under 102.5 points (-110) – Menase

I am looking to fade Orlando's offense because of its youth, its lack of individual quality, and the absence of a reliable go-to scorer. I think we see another sub-100-point output from the Magic, especially going against a New York Knicks team that, under Tom Thibodeau, plays strong defense during the regular season.

Thunder race to 50 points (+105) – Sharp

This game should be close, but the Oklahoma City Thunder are objectively a lot more talented than the Houston Rockets, especially on defense. OKC generally impressed me Wednesday in Utah, holding the Jazz to 107 points. And if it weren't for a bad first quarter, they would have been in that game throughout. Defensively, the Thunder are going to give Kevin Porter and Jalen Green fits and that should be the difference-maker in the first half of this one, assuming the offenses are somewhat equal.

Celtics race to 10 Points - first quarter (-140) – Upstone

Other than Jaylen Brown, Boston was terrible against New York in losing in overtime Wednesday. The Celtics shot only 41 percent and allowed the Knicks to connect on better than 48 percent from the field. Back at the TD Garden for their home opener, expect a more focused effort from the Celtics who play better defense and make shots early to win this prop bet.

Top Expert Player Prop Picks

Jayson Tatum Over 26.5 points (-135) – Browne

It's hard to imagine Jayson Tatum playing worse than he did on opening night. He took 30 shots and only made seven of them. I think he takes at least another 20-25 again tonight and unless he shoots 23 percent from the field again, I expect him to get over this total. OG Anunoby will have to either guard Tatum or Brown. Considering Brown scored 46 on opening night, it's very possible that will be the man he's assigned. Either way, the Raptors only have one guy that can matchup with either Brown or Tatum so I expect big numbers from both, especially Tatum, tonight.

Kemba Walker Over 15.5 Points (-124) - Kacsmar

While the Knicks notched an exciting 138-134 double-overtime win over Boston on Wednesday night, it was a quiet debut for Kemba Walker against his former team. The point guard finished with just 10 points on eight shots, and Derrick Rose replaced him for the entire second overtime. Walker is too good of a scorer for such a low output like that. He recorded just one game last season with fewer than 11 points over 30-plus minutes of action. I like him to rebound on Friday night and score at least 16 in Orlando, a team he lit up for 32 points in May.

Myles Turner Over 11.5 points (-112) – Menase

Under new Pacer head coach Rick Carlisle, Myles Turner's outlook appears promising. One must keep in mind what Carlisle did with big Kristaps Porzingis in Dallas. Carlisle often had Porzingis attempt 3-pointers, something Turner is very comfortable doing. In this respect, he matches up well against a Washington Wizards defense that lacks centers that operate behind the arc.

Josh Giddey Over 19.5 points, rebounds, and assists (-113) – Sharp

The beginning of the season is always a time to catch the sportsbooks napping. That's precisely what I hope to do with Josh Giddey on Friday night. The Thunder guard had a pretty impressive rookie debut against one of the toughest defenses in the NBA, as he finished with 17 combined points, rebounds, and assists against Utah. Now he gets to play against one of the league's worst defenses and probably play at a much faster pace tonight in Houston. Giddey averaged over 0.9 points, rebounds, and assists per minute in the preseason and if he gets close to, or more than, 30 minutes against Houston, this should cash.

Jayson Tatum Over 26.5 points (-135 via DraftKings) – Upstone

If you have followed Tatum’s career, he’s known for bouncing back from poor shooting performances. Brown was the offensive catalyst on opening night and Tatum acknowledged his teammate's brilliance and his own failures. "He carried us tonight," Tatum said of Brown. "He was unbelievable. I wish I could've done my part." Expect him to tonight.
