Dwayne Wade and Jimmy Butler played a grand total of 27 minutes when they lost against Greg Monroe and the Milwaukee Bucks. Now that we know that Butler will play the 2nd half in tonight's game against the 1-0 Indiana Pacers, we wonder if that is enough for Chicago to pick up their first preseason? We break down tonight's action and offer a free NBA pick.

According to 5Dimes Sportsbook, the Pacers are a 4.5 betting favorite at home and the total for the game is listed at 201.5. Oddsmakers have placed the NBA odds correctly. The Pacers are coming off of a double-digit beating administered to the New Orleans Pelicans and should have some confidence coming into the season as a new look team.

The New Look Indiana Pacers

Sometimes, team's need to make wholesale changes and if you look at the Indiana Pacers starting lineup, that's just what they did as 2 out of their 5 starters played on different teams last year and all are major contributors. With the addition of Thaddeus Young and George Teague, this Pacers group should rack up more wins this season. The issue here is that we're talking about the pre-season and teams don't really care if they win or not, therefore bet with caution.

In Thaddeus Young, the Pacers get a guy that really raised his stock as an NBA player with the Brooklyn Nets last season as Young was the backbone of the Nets squad. He provided a nightly double as this is a blue-collar player that will do the dirty work and has a nice touch offensively. He's going to provide the Pacers with a major boost inside, especially against a Chicago Bulls squad that's relatively soft on the inside. Nikola Mirotic is getting the start for Chicago tonight and although he has a nice touch for a big man, Mirotic would rather not mix it up in the interior and Young should excel in tonight's game.

When I think of the injury that Paul George had to endure from the USA team and how gruesome it appeared to be, I'm amazed how strong he has come back and when he's playing at his best, George is one of the best players in the NBA.

This is a player that didn't miss a beat last season, averaging 23.1 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Paul George should see at least 20-25 minutes in this game and Chicago's defense will have major difficulties in dealing with him. Expect a big game from Paul George for as long as he's out on the court in this home game. If you are curious about the Pacer's chances to be champions, it is always a good idea to check NBA futures.

Chicago's Go To Guy

Dwayne Wade proved that he can shoulder the load even at 34 years of age last season with the Miami Heat. Wade has made the decision to come play in his hometown of Chicago and that will definitely benefit the Bulls. However, just like the Heat were "Wade's team", the Chicago Bulls are "Butler's team" as Jimmy Butler possesses the youth and skill as the go-to guy on this basketball squad.

I expect Dwayne Wade to defer to Butler, but in this game, it really won't matter as Butler will receive more of the minutes. Head coach, Fred Hoiberg, has already stated that Butler would play the 2nd half in this game and Butler will have to carry this team on his back. Guys like Doug McDermott are great shooters, but McDermott doesn't possess the complete all around game that Jimmy Butler does.

Last season, Butler averaged 20.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. Often overlooked is the fact that Butler play's an elite level of defense and Chicago will need it tonight as the Pacers will be eager to hit the court tonight with their new additions. The Pacers are definitely the NBA pick for this game, but we always recommend to check the list of best sportsbooks before placing your bet.
