The playoff-hopeful Brooklyn Nets shouldn’t be losing to a team like the Atlanta Hawks as the Nets look for the season sweep on Saturday night in Atlanta.

Brooklyn (34-33, 36-31 ATS) at Atlanta (22-44, 31-35 ATS)

Saturday, 7 PM ET
Free NBA Picks: Over & Hawks ATS
Best Lines Offered: BetOnline

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3570055, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,169,93,19,180], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]

Can there be any doubt that Brooklyn’s Kenny Atkinson should be the NBA’s Coach of the Year? The Nets already have shot past their win total of each of the previous three seasons and should make the playoffs for the first time since 2014-15 barring a huge collapse. Atkinson was an assistant coach with the Hawks for four seasons (2012-16).

The Nets need to win games like Saturday’s in Atlanta, though. While the Hawks have some good young players like rookie Trae Young and second-year John Collins, they are still largely tanking this season to add another piece high in the 2019 draft. Add Zion Williamson do this team, and then you may have something.

Both these clubs are fun to watch because they play fast – the Hawks are No. 2 in the NBA in pace, behind only the Sacramento Kings. Brooklyn ranks seventh in pace since Jan. 1 and ranks fifth overall in 3-pointers attempted. These teams both rank in the Top 5 in 3-pointers attempted per game. The Nets also often play close games as they have been in a league-high 17 games that have been decided by three or fewer points this season (10-7), their most in a season since 1999-00 (20).

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

📺Highlights from our 113-107 win over the Cavs presented by @TCL_USA #WeGoHard pic.twitter.com/UTZunvfy4O
— Brooklyn Nets (@BrooklynNets) March 7, 2019
\n\n"}[/]

Bet Nets Or Hawks ATS?

Brooklyn has won four straight in the series and past three in Atlanta, but this is the only meeting there this season. The Nets were 144-127 winners in Brooklyn over the Hawks on Dec. 16 behind 32 points from All-Star guard D’Angelo Russell. Brooklyn did have a 21-point lead cut to two before then pulling away again. Collins scored 29 points and Dewayne Dedmon had 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks. Young had 13 points and 10 assists.

On Jan. 9, the Nets were 116-100 home winners, rallying from 19 down early. Russell led seven in double figures with 23 points. Collins had 30 points and 14 rebounds, and Young 17 points and seven assists.

In the first two meetings, Young was still struggling a bit, but he has morphed into a legit Rookie of the Year candidate, although unlikely to win it over the Mavs’ Luka Doncic. Since the All-Star break, Young leads the NBA points and is second in total assists, three-pointers made and free-throws made. Young is the second rookie in league history (Steph Curry) with at least three games of 30 points, 10 assists and five made 3-pointers in a game. The Hawks are among the NBA leaders in scoring since the break.

Brooklyn enters on a two-game winning streak, beating bad teams Dallas and Cleveland at home. This starts a very road-heavy part of the schedule with eight of the past nine away. Atlanta is on a two-game skid but was competitive in Miami and vs. San Antonio. Collins returned to the Hawks lineup Wednesday against the Spurs after missing three straight games with flu-like symptoms. Dedmon didn't dress because of bruised right knee.

Over is 10-4 in Nets last 14 road games.

Over is 4-1 in Hawks last 5 overall.

Nets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Hawks are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

Love the 'over' with the Hawks last defensively, and the Nets much worse on that end on the road. Go Atlanta ATS as Brooklyn is just 2-6 in Saturday away games this season.
