Wednesday night always produces some good matchups in the NBA and today is no different. As far as the totals are concerned we’re going to take a look if oddsmakers have these totals set correctly?

Atlanta vs Orlando

This season has been the season of big totals and this game follows that trend with oddsmakers coming out with a big 217 total. For my NBA pick in this matchup I’m going to back over the total as this will most likely be a track meet. Both teams come in with a losing record but the way the tempo should be, along with their overall scoring, there is no reason for me to think they can get over this total. On the season Orlando is averaging 86 attempts per game and dropping 40.1 of those both ranking them ninth in the NBA. Atlanta goes at a little bit of a slower clip, but I like the fact that they are shooting 37.8% from distance which ranks them sixth in the NBA. On the other side of the ball both of these teams should be able to score with Orlando allowing opponents to shoot 46.6% and Atlanta 47.1% ranking them 23rd and 26th in the NBA respectively. I fully expect for these teams to get up and down the floor tonight in this Big East matchup and get over 220 combined.

Dallas vs Boston

A few weeks back Dallas gave Boston all they wanted taking them to overtime but losing 110-102. In regulation the teams went for a combined 192, but oddsmakers have come out with this contest at 203. Usually that gets my radar up but for my NBA pick I’m going to back under the total because I just don’t see these teams getting there. Dallas was able to get up and down the floor just the other night versus Denver but this game to me seems like it’ll go at a little bit more slow tempo with the defenses playing the prevalent role. Boston has been tremendous defensively this year and rank in the top five in every major defensive category highlighted by ranking second in the NBA in opponent shooting efficiency. This will prove troublesome for Dallas team who shoot just 43.7% which ranks second to last in the league. On the other side of the ball Dallas has not been stellar with their defensive percentages but they are allowing opponents to get up just 81.9 attempts, with opponents dropping 37.4 of those ranking them sixth and eighth in the NBA respectively. Despite Boston’s recent surge of points I believe they have been overachieving percentagewise as on the season they are shooting just 45% which ranks them 20th in the NBA.
