The last day of the regular season brings about a ton of interesting scenarios & some teams are having no urge in gunning for a win tonight. Here is a look at those potential sides in NBA Odds board.
The Blazers have wrapped up their division, which means they have had the luxury to rest guys for a while tonight. They have already rested most of their stars outside of Damien Lillard over the last week or so, and I fully expect them to do it again tonight with nothing to play for. Portland is locked into the 4th seed, and while they don’t yet know whom they will play, they have already ruled Nicolas Batum for tonight, but LaMarcus Aldridge looks probable.

Dallas is also the only other team outside of Golden State and Portland who are locked into their playoff seed. The Mavs are at 7th right now, and they rested their three oldest veterans on Monday, and I fully expect Tyson Chandler, Monta Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki to be out again tonight, even though there has been no announcement as of yet. Make sure you double check as always, but don’t expect those guys to play tonight again.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have been locked into the #1 seed in the West for a while now, but they have also kept their foot on the gas pedal. In my opinion that’s both risky and smart from Steve Kerr, but playing his starters tonight against the Nuggets would be reckless. Even though nothing has been announced yet, I would be really surprised if the Warriors starts played at all in this one. All five of them could probably use a break, and if one of them got hurt tonight only days before the most highly anticipated NBA playoffs in Golden State Warriors history, it would be a tragedy.
Atlanta is in a similar position, and they have already been scared to death by an injury to their best player after locking up the #1 seed. Paul Millsap has missed the last four of five games with a sprained shoulder, and even though he has resumed practicing, he also reportedly is still feeling some pain. The Hawks have already rested guys before, and even though they are playing the Bulls tonight, it would surprise me to see the starters play more than 20 minutes, if at all.
After their win last night, the Celtics are locked into the 7th seed in the East, which is an amazing concept for those of us who thought the Celtics would be one of the worst teams in the NBA after the trade deadline. Now they have the luxury of potentially sitting some guys out tonight to rest for the playoffs. Even though they have a young team, they might play some of the starters but only for short stints. Plus they have the luxury of playing another team who can afford to lose tonight.
The Bucks are at home tonight as a NBA odds favorites against the Celtics tonight and they are officially locked into the 6th seed in the East, and will play either the Bulls or Raptors pending tonight’s results. However Jason Kidd has proven to be curious (and that is putting it REALLY nicely) at best with some of his coaching moves over the last year, so at this point nothing would surprise me with him. He could play his starters 40 minutes tonight and I would probably say something along the lines of, “figures.” However if the more conservative Jason Kidd is on the bench tonight, don’t expect many starters to see the floor.
