The Detroit Pistons look like a very good basketball team to start the season after rallying off three straight wins against the Wolves, Clippers, and Warriors. They will try to keep the streak alive against Western Conference teams on Tuesday as they head into Staples Center as -4 road favorites against the Lakers.

It’s not that surprising to see a Stan Van Gundy coached team make an early run during the season. The Pistons are well coached, good on defense, and they have this star-less approach to the game that makes them tough to game plan for.

The Lakers will get a first-hand look at that tonight from Staples. Detroit has legitimately five or six guys that can go off for double-figures in scoring every night, and Los Angeles simply does not have the defensive bodies to slow them down.

Reggie Jackson is going to give Lonzo Ball all he can handle tonight, and former Piston Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is going to have a hard time scoring on Avery Bradley. This doesn’t even mention the talented frontcourt of the Pistons too. Andre Drummond is going to be no match for Brook Lopez tonight, while Tobias Harris’ size and quickness makes him a matchup problem for virtually everyone on the Lakers’ roster.

It might not be pretty, but I see the Pistons getting another win. It’s not like a Van Gundy coached team to relax after a win. Detroit is 6-1 ATS this season and with the Lakers struggling some over their last two, I see the Pistons coming away with the win and cover tonight as my NBA pick.
