Pistons are looking to finish out the season on a high note, but the Wizards are getting geared up for the playoffs. Today’s game has essentially no meaning on the standings with Washington being locked into their playoff spot so is there any value in backing the home Pistons?

Washington Wizards

Washington just lost a tough game at home versus Miami but they will get a chance for revenge taking on the Heat for their last game of the regular season. Although this game is essentially meaningless, Washington definitely doesn’t want to go into the playoffs on a losing streak. However, a couple months back they lost to Detroit in this same venue and I believe that’ll happen again tonight.

On the season under Scott Brooks Washington has shown the ability to get up and down the floor averaging 87 attempts per game which rank ninth in the NBA. They have been efficient putting the ball in the basket with their up-tempo style and are shooting a solid 47.4% from the floor which ranks them fourth. It is on the other side of the ball where they should be a little bit worried not only tonight but going into the playoffs. Currently, Washington ranks in the bottom third of the league in most defensive categories highlighted by allowing opponents to shoot 46.6% from the floor ranking them 24th.

Detroit Pistons

Detroit has had a disappointing season but they have won two games in a row and I like them to actually win this game straight up although they are the small underdog. I think they match up pretty well with Washington and considering this is their final home game of the season I expect for them to put up a solid effort. Statistically, they just have not been efficient on the offense's side of the ball ranking dead last in the league in three-point shooting percentage and shooting efficiency. But because Washington likes to go up-tempo I believe Detroit should be able to put up their share points tonight considering this plays into their wheelhouse as they average 88.6 attempts for game ranking second in the NBA. They are also statistically the better defensive team compared to Washington highlighted by ranking 14th in the NBA in opponent shooting efficiency. Expect for them to give the fans a nice effort and come out with a win for their final home game.

 Washington Wizards vs Detroit Pistons

Oddsmakers have come out making Detroit a +1.5 underdog and I will take them for my NBA pick.  Expect Stan van Gundy to give the home fans something to cheer about tonight.
