Detroit has turned it on defensively lately. It’s probably too little, too late to make the playoffs, but they'll try to keep their hopes alive when they host Los Angeles tonight.

Detroit is still playing hard and it has shown in their ATS value over the past few games. They have cashed a winning ticket ATS in four straight and in seven of their last nine games.

The Pistons' surge has been even better at home, going 4-0 ATS in their last four games in their arena.

The problem with this matchup is that both teams have been extremely good in interconference games. Detroit is 16-10-1 ATS against the Western Conference this season, while the Lakers are 17-11 ATS versus the East. Both should put up a nice fight, but with Reggie Jackson back for the Pistons, and the Lakers tanking the hardest out of both clubs, I like Detroit in this spot as home favorites on the NBA odds board.

The Pistons are giving up just 94.6 points per game over their last five, and the Lakers haven’t had a lot of success offensively lately. Other than scoring 125 points on the Pelicans, the Lakers have scored 100 or fewer points in three of their last four games.

On top of all this is Los Angeles' injury situation. Julius Randle rolled his ankle in the Lakers’ last game, Isaiah Thomas is already out, and Brandon Ingram is doubtful. The Lakers could be pretty thin on the road if Randle sits out, and Kobe Bryant isn’t walking through that door! With your NBA picks, lay the points with the home team!
