After quite some time but today the Pistons and Lakers meet in Los Angeles. Odds makers have made Detroit a small road favorite considering the Lakers played last night. Can the Pistons finish up their road trip with a win?

Detroit Pistons

After beating Portland in Portland Detroit has lost their last three games on the road but two of those games were against two of the best teams in the NBA in Golden State and Utah. Tonight things get a little bit easier as they take on one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. On the season Detroit is averaging just 99.7 points per game which ranks them 24th in the NBA. However, they are pushing some good tempo and averaging 39 field goals made per game which ranks them just a bit better than half of the league. On the other side the ball is where I like them tonight as they are allowing opponents just 101.1 points per game which ranks them fifth in the NBA. As well, they rank fifth and eighth in the NBA in opponent’s field goals attempted and made per game. They also rank fifth in opponent points in the paint which could be a point of contention tonight as Los Angeles ranks eighth in the NBA in that category. Detroit is just a better rounded team in my opinion, and coming off some rest will only help.

 Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles is averaging 104.7 points per game and shooting 44.6% from the field ranking them 18th and 19th in the NBA respectively. Like Detroit they like to get up and down the floor but statistically they can really struggle scoring the basketball at times. On the other side of the ball they have been arguably the worst defensive team in the NBA allowing 110.3 points per game along with allowing opponents to shoot 47.9% from the floor and 53.4% on their two-point shots both of which rank last in the NBA. On top of that, Los Angeles ranks 28th and 29th in the NBA in opponent shooting efficiency and effective field-goal percentage respectively. With them on the second leg of a back to back I don’t expect them to give up much resistance tonight against a well coached Detroit team and on the other side of the ball I think they will struggle scoring. Expect Detroit win this game going away.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have made Detroit a -1.5 favorite in this spot. Despite the fact they are on a three-game losing streak for my NBA pick, I will take Detroit because I expect for them to turn things around tonight against a very poor defensive team in the Lakers. Although Los Angeles is at home expect Detroit to come out with a solid victory
