We nailed both of our picks on Saturday night and we’re almost back in business. Sunday night’s slate has some interesting targets on it and I am here to release what I see as the two best ATS value plays on the night’s NBA Odds slate.

Thunder vs. Nuggets

Despite Russell Westbrook’s need for one more triple-double to break Oscar Robinson’s (and his own now with 41 on the season) record for triple doubles in a season, the Nuggets are the more desperate team tonight. Despite missing Jameer Nelson, the Nuggets might get back Will Barton in this one and they absolutely need a win here to keep from being eliminated from the postseason.

If Denver loses tonight, they are out. That kind of desperation against a team like OKC who is already locked into the 6th seed should be motivation enough to win this game and win big. We saw this last time the Thunder played as they kept it casual and got blown out by the Suns. Tonight with nothing to play for other than Westbrook’s record, I see the Nuggets getting the cover.

Denver matches up well with the Thunder, especially at full strength. With the Thunder likely without Andrew Roberson again tonight, they will have no one to keep Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari in check. Chandler has destroyed OKC in two games already this season and doing it in a third when they need the win is what I see happening tonight.

 Mavericks vs. Suns

Now looking at a much less hectic game, the Suns and Mavs have been eliminated, whether recently or long ago and with only one game remaining after tonight for the Suns, they are in a unique position.

Even if they win this one, assuming the Lakers lose all three of their remaining games, the Suns have done some clinching of their own. Even with a win tonight, if they lose their last game against the Kings, the Suns will have the 2nd best lottery odds of any team.

With tonight being their last home game (and with the Lakers on a winning streak as of late to ensure the Suns’ lottery chances) I see the Suns going all out and winning against the Mavs.

Dallas is already likely resting Harrison Barnes, JJ Barea and Seth Curry tonight and I sincerely doubt Dirk Nowitzki plays more than 18 minutes. This could be like Dallas’ last game where Rick Carlisle played his whole bench just minus the three listed above.

With the Suns’ young guys playing well together and with some nice talent, I see them using this as their defacto last game of the season before resting against the Kings.
