It’s a five-game slate of NBA Odds here on Thursday with some valuable picks on the horizon. Check out our handicappers’ best plays for NBA's Thursday slate!

Nets vs. Pistons

The Eastern Conference is full of bad teams this season and it’s pretty obvious when you look at the standings and find out that two to four playoff teams in the East are going to have below .500 records. That makes not making the playoffs in the East even worse.

Highly touted preseason teams like the Bulls and Pistons are both in danger of missing the playoffs and in the case of the Pistons, even though they are only a few games back of the 8th seed, it looks like they have completely given up on this season.

Now enter the Nets into Detroit tonight, a team that should have given up on the season a long time ago, but continue to play hard and win games despite having nothing to play for and despite them losing their draft pick this offseason.

Brooklyn won and covered their last meeting with the Pistons in Brooklyn and they have beaten them twice this season. Granted, both of those games were in Brooklyn, but I am making two picks on this one in order to grab some value on both the spread and total.

I fact, I am tying them both together in a teaser to make this one a fine NBA Odds selection. The under looks like a fine play considering the Pistons are 24-14 cashing the under at home and in seven of their last eight games. Add that to taking some more points from Brooklyn and you have a fine NBA Pick for tonight.

Lakers vs. Wolves

The Wolves are back from playing seven of their last nine games on the road and they will finish the season with five of their final six on the road. However, they have a nice three-game home stand starting with the Lakers tonight. The Wolves aren’t going anywhere, but I’m assuming they will continue to come out and fight hard from the opening tip tonight.

Tom Thibodeau teams tend to play hard regardless and for the Wolves that has led them to be a fantastic first quarter play this year when they are at home. We have won a couple of NBA Picks on the Wolves’ first quarter NBA Odds this season and it’s simply because they take control of the game at the beginning when they are at Target Center.

In their last nine home games, the Wolves had an average lead of 7.3 points after the first quarter and that included two games where they were behind. However, they covered their first quarter odds in almost all of them, being ahead by double figures after the first quarter in four or five of them.

If the Wolves come out firing in this one too, despite being against a bad team, I like them to cover their first half NBA Odds here.
