We ended up splitting a pair of NBA picks Thursday thanks to Memphis and San Antonio getting into a slugfest defensively. Even though we’ve lost our momentum that we gained to start the week, I’m gearing up for a big Friday night!

NBA Season Picks Record: 144-148-6

Nets vs. Wizards

While the Nets don’t have anything to play for this season, even their own first-round draft pick, they have been playing tough down the stretch. It’s amazing what not incentivizing tanking will do to a bad team (please take note NBA). However, it’s also helping the Nets as NBA odds selections. For instance, the Nets have covered seven of their last nine games ATS, while the Wizards are coming into this one losers of their last six games ATS.

However, I am not man enough to take the points with the Nets tonight despite them potentially being able to keep this one within the 12-point spread. That said, the first-half total is looking mighty fine for an 'over' play, and the sharps seem to agree with the way the odds have moved.

After opening at 107½, the first-half total has gone all the way up to 109 -- and it could go higher. The Nets are playing at one of the faster paces of any team in the league, while the Wizards have bee playing a lot faster, too, as I’ve mentioned before.

Considering these two teams have averaged 113.6 points per first half in their first three meetings, the 'over' seems like a fine wager in Washington. The Wizards are averaging more than 60 points per first half in their games against Brooklyn and they are averaging better than 55 points per first half this season.

Sixers vs. Bulls

For what little it matters this season, the Bulls are probably going to make the playoffs and then lose in the first round. However, they have actually been playing better lately and it has come with the re-insertion of Rajon Rondo into the starting lineup. Rondo and Co. have stepped up with the loss of Dwyane Wade, who really wasn’t giving the Bulls much anyway, even when he was fully healthy.

Tonight the Bulls are once again being undervalued against a poor team. They should have Robin Lopez back to protect the rim tonight after he was suspended for a game, and that could help even more against a poor interior team like the Sixers. Yet, laying the points outright with the Bulls is not where I’m going. Instead, I’m going to buy some help in the tune of a teaser and incorporate the 'over' in our play as well.

At 210, we can tease down the total to 205 and bet the 'over' on what could easily be a higher-scoring game. Over the last month, the Bulls have actually been playing a little faster, and having Rondo back in the starting lineup and Wade out of it is going to help them push the pace.

In March, the Bulls are playing at a pace of 97.2, while the Sixers are all the way up to 102.3 possessions per game in March. If we can get a game where the Bulls push the pace to that of the Sixers’ liking, not only will they win they are going to easily sail over.
