After losing by 53 points to the Dallas Mavericks last night, the Philadelphia 76'ers continue their Texas trip and it doesn't get any easier as they face James Harden, Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets. Do the Sixers have any chance to keep this game competitive? Follow our betting pick as we give you our take on this matchup.

Tip-off is scheduled for tonight at 8:00 pm ET at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

How Much is Too Much?
Openning NBA odds lists the Rockets as a 17 point betting favorite and the total for the game is listed at 205.5. I don't expect too many bettors to be on the Sixers side. This was a team that was trailing 38-10 after the 1st quarter against Dallas and were also trailing 73-29 at halftime. Philly didn't even score 73 points for the game!

Previous to this matchup, the Sixers lost by 32 points to the Toronto Raptors. If any of you think that the betting spread is too high, that should put things into perspective. The Sixers are going to be lucky to make it to 15 wins this season as they average 90.4 points per game and allow a whopping 108.3 points. Tonight's matchup is another game that could be over by the 3rd quarter as the Sixers are on the 2nd half of a back to back while the Rockets are well rested.

The NBA likes to use abbreviations and this abbreviation stands for last season's rookie of the year in Michael Carter- Williams. Williams is a major source of offense for the Sixers and will be playing his 2nd game after an early season injury.

MCW never saw a shot that he didn't like, but for Philadelphia, they can use all of the offense that they can get. Carter- Williams is coming off of a 19 point, 8 rebound, and 5 assist effort in his first game back. The only negative to his comeback is that his shooting was a bit off as he managed just 6 for 19 from the field.

Philadelphia needs to find a way to keep Tony Wroten's momentum going. With MCW back in the lineup, Wroten has lost some minutes and managed just 11 points on 3 of 7 shooting from the field yesterday. For the Sixers to have any chance of making tonight's game competitive, they need big games from Tony Wroten and MCW. Wroten was averaging 20.5 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game this season and we didn't see anything even close to that last night from Wroten. I expect Wroten to play well against the Rockets.

D-12 and the Beard
We really don't need to go no further as Philadelphia will have a tough time matching up against these two superstars. On their best nights, Harden and Howard can score a combined 70 points in a game and match Philadelphia. If you are betting player props, I implore you to take the over on James Harden for points as he is one of the most unstoppable offensive players in the game.

Houston is 7-1 this season and is coming off of a 113-101 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Mexico City.James Harden didn't have a particularly great shooting night, but don't feel discouraged from taking Houston tonight. Trevor Ariza has fit in well as the 3rd option in the offense and there's nobody more confident than James Harden. Expect him to shrug off the poor shooting effort as the Sixers are waiting.

17 points will be no problem here for your NBA pick on this matchup. Philadelphia's defense is atrocious and Houston has the guns to make them pay for the lackadaisical play on the defensive end.
