On Monday, the Cleveland Cavaliers are a five-point favorite on the NBA betting lines facing the Nets in Brooklyn and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t take care of business again.

The Cleveland Cavaliers Can Win Because…
Everything is clicking for them right now. The Cavs faced all sorts of criticism as they lost four straight from November 17th to November 22nd. However, they haven’t lost a game since and have been smoking their opponents. They’ve won those six games by an average of 15 points per contest, which is incredible. They’re not just edging the competition; they’re crushing them. This is what we all thought we’d see from the Cavaliers when they assembled the Big Three.

The offense has been the main reason for the success as the Cavs have figured out their chemistry. As a result, they have scored 105 points or more in five of their last six games. If they’re going to put up points like this, they’re not going to lose many games – especially playing in the Eastern Conference.

The Nets are a weak foe as they’ve been below average since starting the year 4-2. They’ve dropped eight of their last 12 and haven’t been very competitive on most nights. They’re coming off a 98-75 blowout loss at home to the Atlanta Hawks. That’s pathetic. If the Hawks can do that to them, the Cavs shouldn’t have a problem rolling them up too. Take Cleveland with your NBA picks.

The Brooklyn Nets Can Win Because…
The jury is still out on Cleveland. Yes, they’ve won six straight but most of that was at home. They barely edged the New York Knicks 90-87 on Thursday before dismantling a shorthanded Raptors team on Friday. On the season, the Cavs are still merely 5-3 on the road and only 11-7 overall. Brooklyn is supposed to be much worse but is only three games back in the standings.

If you’re considering placing your NBA pick on Brooklyn here, it’s because you think the jury is still out on Cleveland. That’s about it as all other signs point to the Cavs taking this.

Outlook
The Cavs are playing much better at both ends of the court these days. We talked about the offense above but how about the defense? They had allowed 102.7 points per game in their first 12 games, which was the worst in the NBA. However, during their last six games, they’ve held opponents to just 90.7 points per game and 42.3% from the field.

Beyond that, they’re playing a Nets team who is just really bad. The Nets have gone 1-7 against teams with a winning record this year. They’ve lost four of their last five at home while averaging just 84.6 points per game. Take the Cavaliers with your NBA picks here. They’re the better team and they should stay hot with a win and cover.
