Pick Clippers +8 to Hang Tough With Warriors at Golden State

There has not been a hotter team in the NBA than the Golden State Warriors.  Although they have looked fantastic I think there is value in the NBA odds taking the points with L.A. Clippers.

Odds Breakdown
NBA odds makers have made the Clippers a +8 underdog which seems about right but actually a bit too much. At some places the line is at +7.5, but you can still get the +8 at Bookmaker. The Clippers matchup pretty well with Golden State so for one of my picks today I will take the points with them to put up a good fight.

Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers are averaging 107.8 points per game, 48% shooting from the field, and 27.7% shooting from beyond the arc. They lead the league in two point shot percentage and have weapons all around. They are also pretty deep this year with Paul Pierce, Josh Smith, and Jamal Crawford coming off the bench. For me the jury is still out on Lance Stephenson, but so far he has not done much averaging 5.5 points per game. Their starting lineup is one of the best in the NBA, and they have one of the more efficient teams so far this season.

Defensively L.A. is allowing 99.2 points per game, 39.7% shooting from the field, and 31.4% shooting from beyond the arc. They have been decent in defensive shooting efficiency ranking fourth in the NBA, and they will have their hands full with the Warriors who rank first in that category offensively. I don't look for them to stop Golden State so much as I think they will get just enough stops to hang within the number.

Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are averaging 119 points per game, shooting 48.5% from the field, and 41.4% from beyond the arc. They are the best team in the league I think without question but they have also had some favorable matchups so far facing a poor defensive and thin team in New Orleans twice, a Houston team that up until OKC has not played well, and a game against a shadow of a Memphis team we have seen in years past.  Tonight they will face what I believe is one of just a handful of teams that can somewhat matchup with them decently (San Antonio, Cleveland, Atlanta, Houston, and OKC).

Defensively Golden State is allowing 94 points per game, 38% shooting from the field, and 25.6 shooting from distance. I think people often forget this their foundation and essentially why they won last year. Shooting percentagewise defensively they rank as one of the best in the league.

This is just too many points. I understand why people would want to jump on the Warriors to thump L.A. tonight because first, I don't think the Clips are a fan favorite outside Los Angeles, and second the fact they just demolished the Grizzlies. Put those together and we get this line that is almost double digits. For one of your NBA picks tonight I recommend going against these two notions and backing a talented L.A. Clippers team to give the champs their toughest test of the year.
