The Warriors will likely be without Kevin Durant tonight, and what could be a tough thing to overcome against the big and talented Pelicans. Even though the Warriors will likely still win the game, I am skeptical of their line of -11 ½ without their best player.

New Orleans has always played the Warriors tough. Ever since their playoff series a few years ago where the Pelicans played the Warriors closer than any other team, Alvin Gentry’s club knows how to play them. Even though it doesn’t add up to wins, it adds up to covering the spread.

The Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Warriors, and they have already covered the spread once at home against them earlier this season.

New Orleans is also playing pretty well recently both SU and ATS. Even though they can’t play much defense, they are 3-0 ATS and SU in their last three games, while the Warriors just broke a five game ATS losing streak last night.

With both teams tired, I think the Pelicans can come in and beat up on the Warriors down low. Without Durant, as long as the Pelicans’ backcourt can play some defense against Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the big men from New Orleans are going to beat up on the Warriors’ soft frontcourt.

The Warriors are just 4-5 ATS this season at home, and as double-digit favorites on the NBA odds, without one of their best players, I’m taking the points.
