For Wednesday night NBA odds we have an absolute track meet when the New Orleans Pelicans visit the Houston Rockets. Both teams bring us to make a good selection tonight.

Betting Odds
NBA Odds have come with the total on this game at 211.5 across the board. For my selection today I will back over the total and look for a lack of defense on both ends. The tempo should be high paced with both teams scoring with little resistance.

New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans come in averaging 101.5 points per game, shooting 44.1% from the field, and 34.4% from distance. They are coming off a back to back playing against Memphis last night but I don't anticipate this to affect the total on this game. On this end of the floor they have actually been decent statistically both in effective field goal percentage and shooting efficiency. Their record is a result of their poor play on the defensive end combined with some injuries. Anthony Davis can't do it by himself but recently in the past several games they have been playing better than the very beginning of the season.

On the defensive end New Orleans is allowing 108.9 points per game, 46.5% shooting from the field, and 40.9% from beyond the arc. Statistically they have been one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA ranking close to last in most categories and dead last in scoring defense and opponent three point shooting percentage. Houston is going to put up a ton of shots tonight and I expect New Orleans to focus more on keeping up with them than getting stops.

Houston Rockets
The Rockets are averaging 101.8 points per game, 42.2% shooting from the field, and 30.9% from beyond the arc. For the most part this team has been a shadow of itself last year and I am still a bit surprised at the firing of Kevin McHale. Offensively their identity revolves around the three point shot in which they rank first in the league in attempts at 31.1 per game and fourth in made three's at 9.6 per game. The issue for them is just being more consistent as their shooting percentage from distance is one of the worst in the league. Against the Pelicans, who don't defend all that well, they should have a lot of success in putting the ball in the hoop.

Defensively the Rockets are allowing 107.9 points per game, 47.2% shooting from the field, and 36.1% from beyond the arc. This aspect of Houston this season has been the most disturbing as they have done little to stop anyone on this side of the ball. I don't expect them to suddenly turn things around against New Orleans who have enough weapons to put up well into the triple digits.

This matchup of two of the worst defenses in the NBA has got a high score written all over it. For one of your NBA picks today I recommend backing these two teams to go well over this total and land somewhere in the 220's. Should be one of the more entertaining games of the day if you like easy scoring and up tempo pace.

NBA Pick: Over 211.5 at TheGreek

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":2882733, "sportsbooksIds":[1096,19,93,92,238,349], "LineTypeId":3, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
