The Pelicans are heading into Indianapolis tonight to face off against a Pacers team that has been playing some good basketball lately. It will be interesting to see the dynamic between the big men of New Orleans, versus the guard and wing depth of the Pacers, but that also gives me some thoughts on how to exploit the game script for profit in the NBA Odds.

Pelicans vs. Pacers

However, the Pacers’ defense is one of the worst in the NBA, and with both teams playing with paces of more than 100 possessions per game, I expect a lot of made baskets tonight.

The Pacers have the fourth-best effective field goal percentage in the league right now at 53.6%, and they are letting their opponents shoot a 53.1 eFG%. Combine that with their pace and you’ll see how they have cashed the over in two of their last three games.

Hopefully for Indiana Domantas Sabonis is healthy enough to play in this one, but even if he isn’t, the Paces are thin up front, so the bigs from New Orleans are likely going to have a field day offensively tonight.

Even though both have been regressing some on offense, and getting better on defense, I expect to see a fast-paced game with the Pelicans owning the paint, and the Pacers owning the perimeter. It’s a recipe for the over.
