The Brooklyn Nets surprisingly have seem to find their man as coach P.J. Carlesimo has led his squad to 5 consecutive victories. But how should we handle our NBA betting with this match-up?

They can’t be complacent as the Indiana Pacers, who are currently ranked 4th in the Eastern Conference, are on a 4 game winning streak of their own. This should be quite a battle!

Tip-off is scheduled for Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This game can be seen on the YES Channel.

Injuries To Have A Bearing on the Odds

The betting odds for this game aren’t out as of yet. Both teams have question marks at the key positions. Paul George is listed as day to day with an illness for the Pacers while Deron Williams is listed as questionable with a thigh injury and Gerald Wallace will be out with bruised ribs.

I’m going to venture a guess for my nba pick until the odds are actually out and assume that George and Williams will play.  The Nets should be a small favorite of up to 4 points at home. Visit 5 Dimes Sportsbook for odds when they come out and navigate to rotoworld.com to find the up to date status of the players in question.

The Next Dennis Rodman?

Veteran forward, Reggie Evans, has been a major force on the boards as of late. He’s not as eccentric as Dennis Rodman, but his numbers are eerily similar. In his last 3 games, Evans is averaging  5.3 points and 16.7 rebounds per game. This includes a 23 rebound performance against Phoenix on January 8th. The Nets can surely use his presence; Brook Lopez is primarily a scorer and a weak rebounder. Facing Roy Hibbert tonight, the Nets can definitely use the production that Reggie Evans offers.

Who Will it Be?

If Deron Williams plays at all, he might not be 100%. Look for either Joe Johnson or Brook Lopez to pick up the slack. Johnson is a bit inconsistent at times, but both of these players are capable of putting up big games. The Nets will hard-pressed for offense; Indiana has the top ranked defense in the NBA, allowing a mere 89.1 points per game.

Coming Along For the Ride?

Paul George is expected to travel with the team and the Pacers hope to see him suited at the Barclays Center. George has been on fire as of late. In his last 2 games, he’s averaged 26.5 points and 11 rebounds. He’s also coming off of a huge 6 steal game against the Knicks.

Paul George is Indiana’s best player and they desperately need him on late Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned, as game time draws closer, and we find out the answer, “Is Paul George playing?”

Roy Hibbert

Center, Roy Hibbert, had been making great strides as a basketball player until this season. To say that Hibbert has been disappointing, is an understatement. Hibbert has great size at 7 foot 2, 280 pounds. He also has nice offensive touch. Could this be a confidence issue which has seen Hibbert’s numbers drop to 9.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game on just 40% shooting from the field? Look for Roy Hibbert to have a decent game if Paul George is unable to play and a void is left.

Outcome

We don’t know the status of the major players in this game, but this should be a close, low-scoring affair. Both teams don’t want to see their winning streaks come to an end and both teams have are very strong defensively. I’m not going to venture a guess on the total for this game, but expect  a very low scoring game. UNDER the total is my play until further notice.
