After winning five games in a row the Indiana Pacers got crushed taking on Denver across the ocean. Tonight they try to bounce back versus a New Orleans team that has already beaten them once this season. Can Indiana get their revenge tonight?

New Orleans Pelicans

New Orleans has won six out of their last 10 games and is starting to get healthy and more competitive. With one of the best players in the NBA in Anthony Davis it looks to me like Indiana is laying too many points tonight. Surprisingly New Orleans has been playing a lot better defense this season and that showed in their first matchup with Indiana back in December. In that matchup they held Indiana to a shockingly low 14% from distance and only 41% shooting overall. Although those percentages are likely to increase tonight with this game being in Indiana I like New Orleans chances to not only stay within the number but possibly pull the minor upset. On the season New Orleans is averaging just 102.4 points per game and shooting just 43.8% from the field. However, on the other side of the ball they have been extremely good  ranking third in the NBA in opponent shooting efficiency along with allowing opponents to shoot just 43.9% overall and 48.5% on their two-point shots both of which ranks fourth in the NBA. Across the board I think they’re tough matchup for this Indiana team.

 Indiana Pacers

Prior to their loss to Denver Indiana had won five games in a row. On closer examination though that five game stretch was against some of the lower tiered teams in the NBA. It makes sense for them to be a favorite tonight considering they are at home, but as mentioned I like how New Orleans matches up with the Pacers. Indiana is averaging 106 points per game which ranks 12th in the NBA and their offensive statistics across the board rank in about the middle of the league. On the other side of the ball they have been less than stellar ranking 16th and 19th in the NBA in opponent effective field-goal percentage and opponent shooting efficiency. There is one bright spot though as they are allowing opponents to shoot just 34.3% from distance which ranks them fourth. Outside of that however they are not really a lockdown type of defense and I expect for New Orleans be able to score tonight. I can understand why Indiana is favored but I believe this is just too many points.

NBA Odds

Oddsmakers have come out making Indiana -5.5 favorite across the board but for my NBA pick I will take New Orleans plus the points. Don’t be shocked if Anthony Davis and the Pelicans come in and beat Indiana once again.
