Dallas has had a down year on several fronts, including a sexual-harassment scandal and owner Mark Cuban’s comments about intentionally losing games. Indiana is focused on other things.

The Mavericks might be trying to lose over the rest of the season, but the Pacers are in the thick of the playoff hunt in the Easter Conference. If Indiana can take care of business in these road games, they have a very good shot at hosting a first-round playoff series.

The Pacers are -3 road favorites in this one with a total of 210 on the NBA odds board. The way they have played this season, they should have little issue slowing the Mavs, even on the road. Dallas owner Mark Cuban recently said on Julius Irving’s podcast that the Mavs’ best option is tanking games to increase their chances at a higher draft pick:

The Pacers’ defense is nothing to get excited about, but the Mavs’ offense has little to no real threats against these Pacers. Harrison Barnes could be a tough cover, but the Pacers have lots of wing guys to throw at him with Glenn Robinson III back in action.

The Mavs are only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games. While they are 9-8 ATS as home underdogs this season, they are 1-3 ATS in their last four games as home dogs. The Pacers, on the other hand, are a solid 5-2 ATS this season as road favorites. Although they are 9-11 ATS in non-conference games, the Pacers are also 3-0 SU in their last three against Western Conference opponents.

Dallas won at Indiana in December, but it was only a four-point loss from the Pacers and they were without Victor Oladipo. With Oladipo cruising right now, the Mavs stand little chance at beating the Pacers' up-tempo and efficient offense, so with my NBA picks I'll take Indiana minus the points.
