With NBA teams on both sides of the spectrum -- from vying for the playoffs to tanking -- let's look at the totals in a couple of Wednesday's matchups and find solid over/under values.

Indiana won the first two meetings with Atlanta this season, 105-95 and 116-93. Both of those final scores were under tonight's total of 212 on the NBA odds board, but with my NBA picks I will back the "over." Although Atlanta has struggled on the offensive end, they have some decent home numbers, shooting 45.9 percent at home and a respectable 35.8 percent from distance. What I really like is the fact Indiana has been good offensively when they travel, shooting at 47.6 percent overall and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Pacers throttled the Hawks a few days ago, but what stood out to me was the frenetic pace. The teams combined to get up 183 attempts, highlighted by the Pacers getting up 101. Neither team got to the free-throw line very much and didn’t shoot very well from beyond the arc at 22.6 and 32.1 percent, respectively, and there were a ton of turnovers. This line has been set a bit higher than that final score and I like for these teams to get there tonight.

Wednesday NBA: Bucks vs. PistonsFree NBA Pick: Over 208Best Line Offered: Bookmaker

A decently high total for this matchup was set at 208 on the NBA odds board, and with my NBA picks I’m going to back "over" the total. This the first time this season the Bucks get to play the Pistons in Detroit; their first two meetings were in Milwaukee before the New Year. Milwaukee won those contests 99-95 and 104-100, but the dynamic of this Detroit team is much different and I look for an up-tempo affair. Detroit has some decent offensive numbers at home this season, shooting 45.6 percent overall and 37.9 percent from distance. Milwaukee should come in with some confidence, though, with solid road shooting percentages at 47.2 overall and 35.4 from distance. I am a bit concerned about the fact Milwaukee does not push a lot of pace, averaging only 81.7 attempts per game to rank second-to-last in the NBA. However, they are efficient across the board and Detroit has been slacking on the defensive end of late, allowing 110, 114, and 123 points in the last three contests. Look for both teams to score and score often.
