Indiana Pacers visit the Milwaukee Bucks, and our expert handicapper explores tonight's game while giving you his NBA pick at no cost.

Indiana Pacers at Milwaukee Bucks (-1-) 8:05 ET
The Indiana Pacers visit the Milwaukee Bucks for this 8:05 ET clash between a pair of teams who hover at the cut-line for Eastern Conference playoff inclusion.  These teams have met three times this year with every game decided by 6 or fewer points.  The road underdog has also covered all 3 times on the NBA odds in those games, including the lone meeting on this court when Indiana prevailed by a score of 94-92.  Indiana still holds a dominant edge in the series, standing 13-3 SU of late.

At 35-36 SU, Milwaukee clings to the 6th spot in the Eastern Conference playoff queue, leading Miami by 2 games for that position.  Indiana’s position is far more tenuous.  Four teams, Indiana, Boston, Brooklyn and Charlotte are all tied with 40 losses for the final playoff position.  With a victory tonight, Indiana can move into sole position of 8th place.

Milwaukee is the most improved team in the NBA this season.  Last year, the Bucks were 15-67 SU (last in the East).  The hiring of Jason Kidd as HC has been a major factor in their turnaround.  They have already surpassed their win total from last year by 20 games.  Unfortunately for Milwaukee, they have taken a turn for the worse in the 2nd half of the season.  Roughly correlating with the time at which they divested themselves of Brandon Knight at the trade deadline, this team has gone 5-13 SU since the All Star break.  With little experience in post-season play, or what it takes to get there, it would appear Milwaukee will be hard-pressed to overcome the pressure that is required to succeed in a playoff race.

Much the opposite is true of the Indiana Pacers.  It was just one year ago that Indiana was cruising to the best record in the East, finishing last season at 56-26 SU.  After struggling through the first half of the season without their best player, Paul George, Indiana received a shot in the arm with the news that George would return to action and that PG George Hill was ready to resume active duty after a stint on the injury list.  Indiana responded with a 12-2 SU run, keyed by an 83 PPG defense in those last 6 games.  Since that time, however, Indiana has gone just 2-6 SU, 1-7 ATS with a 6-game losing streak being broken by a solid 2nd half last night.  With Hill leading the way with 29/7/9, the Pacers used strong 4th quarter play for a 103-101 victory.  With Paul George set to return within the next week, that comeback victory last night could well key a buy sign for Indiana down the stretch.

The Combination of Indiana’s strong series history, their far greater experience edge in must win games and the momentum producing comeback victory last night are all indications that Indiana gets this victory, so add them to your NBA picks.
