We went 2-0 with our Summer League total picks yesterday, so maybe we’ve got a little momentum on our side. Time to pawn some jewelry and load up for Wednesday’s action. Here’s our NBA betting picks for the day:
Washington Wizards vs. Utah Jazz
This is going to be a matchup of the No. 20 Wizards against the No. 13 Jazz, so Utah should be favored. However, I like the over in this spot more than a play on the side.
The Jazz have been playing high-scoring affairs the entire time in Summer League and I expect them to drag Washington into another lofty result. On Saturday, the Jazz lost 82-79 to the Miami Heat. On Monday, they won 91-82 over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yesterday, they lost 91-82 to the Phoenix Suns. Clearly, their defense hasn’t really come to play as their opponents haven’t faced much resistance at the defensive end. The scores could have actually been worse when you start to dive into the numbers as none of their three opponents really shot well from the field yet they each scored at least 82 points. One of the main issues appears to be rebounding as they’ve given up more than 40 rebounds per game in Vegas and double-digit offensive rebounds in two of the three games.
Washington has played to some high-scoring results too as they lost 86-77 on Saturday to the Phoenix Suns, 94-74 to the D-League Stars on Sunday before finally winning by a score of 85-79 yesterday. Given how both sides are playing, take the over with your NBA picks.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Portland Trail Blazers
The Timberwolves have been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of totals as they did play a couple of high-scoring affairs but I’m going to expect an under against Portland. Minnesota played to a 91-82 result against the Jazz but as mentioned above, the Jazz have been a high-scoring team. In their other two games, the totals were 155 and 149. When you take a look at what Portland has been doing, they have had a tough time getting it going at the offensive end. They scored just 76 points against the Boston Celtics on Saturday and while they did have 93 in their second game, they dropped back down to 75 on Tuesday when they faced the San Antonio Spurs. The challenge seems to be that while Noah Vonleh looks decent in Summer League action – he had 20 points and eight rebounds last night – the rest of the team isn’t always there for support. Alan Crabbe has been probably the only other player that has consistently supported him.
We will probably see a total in this spot that’s a bit higher than the league average for Summer League games but I see this being a lower scoring game. That means take the under with your NBA betting picks.
