Our focus for NBA betting purposes is on the totals & we’ve circled our 3 best picks from Wednesday's slate, highlighted by an important matchup between the Grizzlies & Rockets.

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Washington Wizards

Total: 208.5

There’s no question that the Lakers are a brutal defensive team. That was completely exposed when they allowed Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Zach LaVine to score 18 points in a quarter at the Staples Center last Friday after he reached double figures just twice in his first 10 games of the season. The Lakers rank 30th in points per game allowed with an average of 112 while at the same time rank 8th in the NBA with an average of 104.1 points per game. All of that math adds up to the over hitting in 11 of their 17 games and there is no reason to think that trend won’t continue in Washington. The Wizards are also among the best teams for betting totals as the over has hit in six of their nine home games this season. John Wall and company should have no problem carving up this Los Angeles defense while Kobe Bryant and his teammates do everything they can offensively to hang around and keep this game close.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Total: 204.5

When it comes to scoring no team in the NBA is better than the Mavericks as they have averaged a league-best 109.1 points per game this season. A big part of their success has been the ball movement and ability to get to the rim as the rank fifth in the NBA with 24.3 assists per game and also led the league in dunks through the first month of the season. Milwaukee’s 91 dunks through four weeks was second only to the 110 that Dallas registered and it’s become clear this young Bucks team can compete on a nightly basis thanks to the presence of Brandon Knight, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jabari Parker. That trio will help the Bucks hang around for a while and push this game over the total.

Orlando Magic vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Total: 205

The Clippers lead the NBA with an 11-5-1 over record so far this NBA season while Orlando ranks 18th in the league with an average of 100.1 points per game allowed. Blake Griffin and company have done an excellent job of remaining very aggressive and correcting the little things in their game as the season progresses and they won’t let off the gas as they continue to chase Golden State. The Magic are a better team at home than on the road and while they might not be good enough to beat the Clippers anyway they should score enough points to push this game over the total. Take the over with your NBA picks in this one.
