After handling business in Houston the Golden State Warriors now head to Orlando to take on the young Magic. Oddsmakers have come out making Warriors a naturally heavy favorite in this spot even on the road, but can a scrappy Orlando team stay within the number?

Golden State Warriors

Golden State exacted some revenge the other night in Houston dismantling the Rockets winning by double digits and looked like they’re about to get on a roll. Currently, they rank first in the league in most offensive numbers ranking first in scoring, shooting percentage, shooting efficiency, and effective field-goal percentage.

As I’ve mentioned before it’s the other side of the ball though that makes Golden State great. They play tremendous defense and as of right now they are allowing opponents to shoot just 43.2% from the floor which ranks second in the league along with allowing 31.7% from distance which ranks them first. This team is extremely well-rounded and exceptionally coached but Orlando can play inspired basketball at times and seem to rise up in certain situations. Although I’m hard-pressed to think they have any shot of beating Golden State I do believe they can keep this game semi-interesting and lose by respectable number.

Orlando Magic

Orlando is having less than a stellar season but at home this year they have played some respectable basketball for the most part.  This is still a really young team but they are coming off a good win against Milwaukee and should come in extremely fired up to face the best team in the league. Right now Orlando ranks just below the middle league in most offensive and defensive categories. The point of contention tonight will be if they can stop Golden State from lighting things up from distance which just happens to be their best defensive statistic.

Currently, Orlando’s allowing opponents to shoot just 35.3% from beyond the arc which ranks them 10th in the league. Frank Vogel has been a nice job with the squad despite their losing record and I am anticipating for this team to be on the move upwards these next few seasons. They will have their hands full tonight, and there is pretty much no way they will beat Golden State but they are good enough at home to keep the game semi-interesting.

Golden State Warriors vs Orlando Magic

Oddsmakers have come out making Golden State a -12.5 favorite which makes perfect sense but for my NBA pick, I’m going to back Orlando getting the points. Expect for Golden State to win rather easily but for Orlando to hang tough most of the way.
