The Chicago Bulls have one of the most unusual winning streaks going in the NBA, and they catch a break for extending it in Thursday’s TNT televised home game vs. Golden State as the Warriors will be without an injured Kevin Durant.

The NBA world was on pins and needles late Tuesday night and early Wednesday awaiting word on the injury status of Golden State superstar Kevin Durant, the team’s leading scorer, rebounder and shot-blocker. Teammate Zaza Pachulia was flung into Durant’s knee by the Wizards’ Marcin Gortat early in during Tuesday’s game in Washington. Durant had to leave and it didn’t look good. MRI results on Wednesday revealed a Grade 2 MCL strain and bone bruise. He will miss at least four weeks, which is actually somewhat good news. Read more about that here.

The Warriors put a crazy streak of their own on the line here because they lost 112-108 at Washington on Tuesday. Golden State has the longest streak without consecutive losses in the regular season in NBA history at 146 games. The last time the Warriors lost two straight games on NBA picks was on April 5 (at San Antonio, 92-107) and April 7, 2015 (at New Orleans, 100-103).

Not having to face Durant is a huge break for the Bulls, who carry a wacky 17-game home winning streak on Thursdays in games televised by TNT into this one. It even has its own #TNTBulls hashtag on Twitter.

The Bulls were lucky to continue the streak in their most recent Thursday home TNT game on Feb. 16 against Boston in the final game before the All-Star break. The Celtics’ Marcus Smart was called for a very questionable foul on a jumper by Jimmy Butler, who missed the potential winner as the final buzzer sounded. The Celtics had started to celebrate an apparent 103-102 victory when a whistle blew: two shots for Butler and 0.9 seconds back on the clock. He made both for the 104-103 victory as Boston couldn’t get a good shot on the other end after an inbounds play.

Butler and Taj Gibson were the only players on the roster for every game in the 17-game TNT streak. Gibson played in that Feb. 16 game but then was traded to Oklahoma City (along with Doug McDermott) a week later. So the streak solely belongs to Butler now.

Chicago’s four-game winning streak overall ended Tuesday in a 125-107 home loss to Denver – a potential look-ahead NBA betting game for the Bulls. Butler had one of his worst games of the season with eight points on 3-for-13 shooting.  Butler is now 18-for-53 over his last three games.

The Bulls were destroyed 123-92 at Golden State on Feb. 8 playing without an injured Butler and Dwyane Wade. Durant had 22 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists and Klay Thompson 28 points for the Warriors.

One very interesting streak will end Thursday! Talk about the game in our forum. Here is a list of the Bulls’ TNT Thursday home winning streak along with Chicago’s spread and whether it covered.
