There's a huge total on the NBA odds board for tonight's Brooklyn-Golden State game. A lot of points definitely will be scored, but will they be scored in bunches in the first half?

Brooklyn has given up an average of 113.2 points in their past five games, but the true tale of the tape lies in their first-half defense. The Nets are allowing 56.8 points per first half over their last five games, and tonight in Oakland the Warriors could easily put up 60-plus points in the first two periods and help crack the total on the NBA odds board.

The last time these two played, Brooklyn made a run in the second half to make the game respectable, but they still allowed Golden State to score 64 first-half points on the road.

Tonight it might go even higher. The Warriors are coming in rested after not playing for the past three days. Although that may hurt their offense, it could also hurt their preparedness. If the Nets come out aggressive against the team coming off a long layoff, they could put up some points in the first half before the Golden State defense truly kicks in.

While Golden State has played good defense at home in the first half of their games against Eastern Conference opponents, they have also been playing really fast in those games. The Warriors own a pace of 105.1 possessions per game in the first half of non-conference home games. If they push the pace of this one, I expect a first-half score around 62-52, so with your NBA picks go with the first-half "over."
