On January 11, famous rapper and actor Ice Cube announced the formation of the BIG3, a professional 3-
on-3 traveling basketball league featuring eight teams of former NBA legends and players in an eight-game regular season.

The games will be played every Saturday as part of a quadruple-header with all eight teams and the playoffs will have semifinal matchups before the championship game.

As for the rules, they're unique to say the least, the games will be played on a half court, there will be a four-point shot and there won't be foul outs or defensive three-second violations. Halftime starts once a team scores 30 points and the game ends when a team scores 60.

A player combine was held on April 29 and the BIG3 draft took place the next day, when all team captains and co-captains selected 24 players from a pool of 70.

Trilogy took former North Carolina star and Timberwolves and Kings player Rashad McCants with the first overall pick, but many well-known former NBA players went undrafted, including Steve Francis, Joe Smith, Kendall Gill, Earl Boykins, Kareem Rush, Smush Parker, Al Thornton and D.J. Mbenga.
