Our expert handicapper shares his top two NBA totals on Tuesday’s card. Don't make a move on your NBA picks without first reading this article.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Toronto Raptors 7:35 PM ET
Brooklyn has allowed 103 points or more in fourteen of their last sixteen games. In its last five games alone, they’ve allowed 112.0 points per game, and their opponents have shot 50.8% from the field. During that same time frame, Brooklyn has averaged 106.0 points per game, and converted on a superb 42.4% of their three point attempts. They’ve also gone 11-4 over the total in their last 15 games when there’s a total of 200.0 or more. Those fifteen contests averaged a combined 216.6 points scored per game.

Toronto has scored 101 points or more in eleven of its last thirteen games. Based on Brooklyn’s propensity in allowing their opponents to score 100 or more in recent games, I’d estimate there’s a high likelihood of Toronto doing so on Tuesday. Toronto has gone 31-11 (73.8%) over the total this season when scoring 100 points or more in a game. They’ve also surpassed the number in each of its previous four games, and there was a combined 216.3 points scored per contest. As a matter of fact, Toronto has gone 10-3 over the total during their previous thirteen games played.

Current (11:45 AM ET) NBA odds at The Greek clearly provides me with the best possible number for this wager.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Utah Jazz 9:05 PM ET
Atlanta has been terrific defensively over its last five contests, allowing a miniscule 89.4 points per game, holding opponents to a paltry 37.4% shooting, and permitting them to make only 27.9% of their three point attempts. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that they’ve gone 5-1 under the total in their previous six games. The Hawks are 5-1 under the number this season when there’s a posted total of 195.0 or less.

Utah is coming off a 106-94 win at New Orleans in their previous game. They’ve gone 9-2 under the total at home this season following a game in which they scored 100 points or more. Those contests averaged just 189.4 points scored per game. Utah is scoring only 94.3 points scored per game at home this season, and averages exactly 79 field goal attempts for and against in Salt Lake. That equates to a very slow pace by NBA standards. Considering Atlanta has averaged just 81 field goal attempts per game during its previous five outings, tonight’s game has the potential to be played at a snail’s pace.

With all things being considered pertaining to tonight’s matchup, I like this game to be a low scoring affair. One of my Tuesday NBA picks will be indicative of that prediction.
