Our expert handicapper Ross Benjamin shares his top three totals on Thursday’s card. These NBA picks have gone a rock solid 18-12 (60%) during the past twelve days!

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Indiana Pacers 7:05 PM ET
New Orleans has gone 9-1 over the total in its last ten, and is 5-0 over during their previous five games. Those last five outings have produced an average of 223.6 points scored per contest. During that time five game stretch, New Orleans is allowing a lofty 113.6 points per contest, and opponents have shot a stellar 48.6%. On a positive note, they’ve converted on a very good 41.3% of their three point attempts in that time span.

New Orleans has allowed 103 points or more in each of its previous ten games. Indiana has gone 11-1 over the total in their last 12 home games when scoring 100 points or more. Those twelve contests averaged a combined 215.7 points scored per game.

Relative to the current total, I like this game to be a high scoring affair, and one of my Thursday NBA picks will reflect that prediction.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Brooklyn Nets 7:35 PM ET
Brooklyn has gone 11-2 over the total in its last thirteen home games. The only two times they went under the number both came in games versus Charlotte. They shot a sizzling hot 48.9% during those thirteen contests, and made a superb 44.2% of its three point shots. Unfortunately, the Nets defensive play wasn’t nearly as good during that time frame, allowing 107.0 points per game, and permitting their opponents to shoot a combined 49.0%.

Cleveland has seen each of their previous four games go over the total. They averaged a lofty 111.8 points scored per contest, shot a red-hot 51.7%, and also made good on an impressive 41.0% of their three point shots. However, the Cavaliers defensive play left much to be desired during that period of time. They allowed their opponents to shoot 48.3% in addition to them converting on a steamy 46.8% of its three point attempts.

Utah Jazz vs. Oklahoma City Thunder 8:05 PM ET
Utah continues holding its opponents to low scoring outputs of late. As a matter of fact, Utah opponents have scored less than 100 points in ten of the last eleven games, and that includes each of their previous seven. Current NBA odds at Pinnacle indicates that the total is 198.5 for this contest. This is just the third time all season that an Oklahoma City game has a total of less than 200.0. During their three games versus Utah this season, the Thunder averaged 103.0 points scored per game while attempted only 78.3 shots per contest. That’s well below their season averages of 110.2 points scored per contest, and 86 field goal attempts per game. Utah does a terrific job of slowing down the tempo of its games to their liking.

Speaking of Utah, they’ve gone under the total in five straight games, and there was a paltry 176.6 points combined scored per contest. Utah has held its last seven opponents to a minute 87.1 points per game. The Jazz have managed to score just 92.3 points per outing, and shot an awful 40.8% in its three games this season versus Oklahoma City.
